Your Girl Scouts Bi-Weekly News & Updates: April 28
Council Updates
Volunteer Appreciation Month

This year we’re marking National Volunteer Month by sending a shout-out to all of our amazing council volunteers in April, but we know it will mean so much more to them to hear directly from YOU!

Here are seven simple ways to show you care:
  • Personalize one of these super cute (and free!) thank-you cards designed just for this purpose.
  • Bake a special treat to brighten their day.
  • Write on our Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Kudo Board
  • Give them a glow-up with a special social media post.
  • Send a quick video thanking them for all they’ve helped your troop accomplish.
  • Choose a project from Girl Scouts at Home to make and give to your volunteer.
  • Team up with other troop families to get them a token of appreciation from the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Shop—when you use the code Thanks15*, you’ll get a sweet 15% off!

When it comes to showing gratitude, we’ve got this!

*The code is active April 1 through April 30, 2021, for a 10% discount at girlscoutshop.com. The code is for one-time use per customer, online only at girlscoutshop.com. Discount is not taken on any applicable shipping/handling or taxes for each order.

Upcoming Programs & Events

Gold Award Trainings are open to all girls, 9th grade and older, parents, and advisors, who are interested in learning more about this prestigious award. Requirements and policies will be reviewed, step by step, with plenty of time for questions. This workshop is mandatory for all girls who wish to propose a Gold Award Proposal Application. This training is held virtually and starts right at 6pm. A meeting link will be sent with a conformation email shortly before the event.

We will host another Town Hall to engage in conversation about high-level state of the council topics. The Town Hall is geared toward members at the Service Unit and Delegate level of leadership, but any member is also welcome to participate. Likely topics will focus on Cookie Program status update, annual meeting and recognitions updates and alternatives to the annual conference, and more. This is our second Town Hall this membership year, and we plan to structure more time for SU and Delegate leader input.

Join Kailee and Sarah in this Space Science workshop where we will discover the stars, moon, and planets as well as learning about invisible light and the technology behind telescopes. This is a virtual event and the link to the Zoom meeting will be sent out with the confirmation email.

Attention all 6th, 7th, & 8th grade Girl Scouts! Our Teen Advisory Committee has worked hard to create an event they think you will love! During this event, you will learn more about how to stay mentally healthy, how to help your friends who might be struggling and how to use tools such as yoga or meditation to calm yourself. Speak to a panel of guests with knowledge on mental health and the stigma surrounding it, and wrap up with some yoga!
