Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

The USDA has announced that free meals will no longer be offered to all students beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. Lunches at Shaker Heights Schools will only be provided for free or reduced cost to families that are deemed eligible after submitting an application for free- and reduced-price eligibility.

Families may also qualify for fee waivers for the ACT, PSAT, SAT and AP tests if qualified for free and reduced-price meals. If you have additional questions about free and reduced-price meals or the application process, contact Deirdre Storms at 216-295-5593. Refer to Free/Reduced-Price Meal for more information, frequently asked questions and a link to the online application.

Shaker Heights Schools will continue to provide breakfast to all students at no cost for the 2022-2023 school year.

School Volunteers

The scheduling and processing of all volunteer fingerprints/background checks will take place in the Office of Family and Community Engagement located: Second floor of the Shaker Heights Public Library Main Branch, 16500 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Heights 44120.

All volunteers in each building need to complete the volunteer registration and have a background check. The District wants to ensure that anyone spending time around our students and staff is legally cleared to do so. With the COVID mandate being lifted, we no longer require vaccination cards or negative test results. Any guest/vendors coming in one time for a couple of hours and will not be alone at any time with our students or staff do not need a background check, however they still need to check in at the main office and sign in.

Volunteers, please use contact the following contact information to schedule fingerprints/background checks: volunteer_face@shaker.org or call 216-295-6268.

Who needs to be fingerprinted?

Field trip parent chaperones - YES

Volunteers alone with students at anytime - YES

Important Transportation Information

The Shaker Heights City School District is facing a severe shortage of bus drivers. As a result, the District is presently considering a variety of ways to address this urgent issue for the 2022-2023 school year.

Here Comes the Bus” features live route and time information. These routes will continue to be adjusted as we monitor our student transportation and adjust to routes as needed.

While this is an urgent issue, we are hoping to minimize this disruption for our students and families, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

A Welcome with a Beat!

Students at Shaker Heights High School began their day with a front lawn performance by the Shaker Heights High School Marching Band Drumline on Friday.

The band then moved through the halls to play for their peers at the end of the first period.

The drumline is a great way to wake up and motivate the student body on a Friday morning!
