With regards to the latest stay-at-home order (made on April 16, 2021) by Premier Doug Ford ordering the closure of outdoor golf courses and driving ranges until at least May 20, 2021. We would like to inform you that the upcoming TCA Golf Day is postponed and will be rescheduled to happen at a later date.
As COVID-19 continues to impact people's lives, we seek your understanding and know that you also partake in our concern in these unprecedented times. Impact of COVID-19 on IAQ Guidelines Seminar

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, in partnership with ASHRAE Toronto Chapter, the Toronto Construction Association Environmental Committee conducted a seminar on the topic Impact of COVID-19 on IAQ Guidelines. Over 220 attendees registered. It was a terrific success!
Building ventilation is critical for preventing pathogen spread. With help from local consultants and organizations like ASHRAE, standards and best practices are changing due to COVID-19. The speakers discussed how to enhance existing building systems and build new projects with a higher level of Indoor Air Quality for occupant health and safety.

Member Benefit: Virtual Commissioning of Stat Decs |
|
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, TCA is now commissioning statutory declarations virtually for our members.
If you require the signature of a commissioner of oaths, the virtual commissioning process will be as follows:
-
Email us at statdec@tcaconnect.com to set up the video conference.
- Commissioning staff will ask for identification in order to verify the member's identity. Have your picture identification ready.
- Once confirmed you will sign the Statutory Declarations while the commissioning staff witness. You will then need to scan and send it by email.
- Once received, the commissioning staff will print and verify the signature that they witnessed and if everything is satisfactory, they will sign and email it back.

On December 14, 2020, the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) released its latest version of the CCDC 2 – 2020 “Stipulated Price Contract”.
Find out what are the most crucial changes in the new version and how it impacts you and your projects including:

The 2020 CCDC 2 (Going Beyond the Boardroom – A Contract Administrator's Perspective)
Go beyond the theory of changes made to the new CCDC 2 (2020) and discover what is new, what will affect you on-site as a contract administrator working for a GC, Subcontractor, Architect or Engineer - and what stays the same. Changes that have been highlighted as substantial include insurance and indemnity requirements, early occupancy and ready for take-over. There are over a half-dozen other language modifications that have yet to be talked about, thought about and worked through practically on-site. Not to mention, how consultants will be enforcing new conditions as their role in Part 2 of the contract. With the phase in period of CCDC 2 happening now, newer projects will soon be working with the new version.
Each participant will receive the education copy of the CCDC 2 (2020) and we will work through the following together:
- Adjudication as it ties into Articles 5.2, GC 8.2 and GC 7.2.3;
- Ready for Take-Over GC 12.1;
- Early Occupancy GC 12;
- How payment applications including the reduced role of the payment certifier in legislation will work relative to the new Construction Act in Ontario;

This nine-storey building will include state-of-the-art classrooms, student meeting, collaboration space, and interactive technology. It will be constructed on the Westdale campus at a site adjacent to the School of Business.
