BAR Workshop - Proposed Cite and Fine Regulations

The BAR is conducting a 2nd public workshop on July 15 (after the BAR Advisory Committee meeting) to discuss the proposed citation and fine regulation. As you know, concerns were raised by stakeholders during the first public workshop. BAR has attempted to address concerns with the revised proposal.


NOTE: ASCCA Legislative Advocate, Jack Molodanof and Government Affairs Committee Chair, David Kusa will be in attendance.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE
CITATION PROGRAM FOR AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR DEALERS WORKSHOP

As with the provisions of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order N-08-21, dated June 11, 2021, neither a public location nor teleconference locations are provided.
SUMMARY
On July 15, 2021, the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) will host its second public workshop to discuss the proposed extension of BAR’s citation program to Automotive Repair Act violations by registered automotive repair dealers. The first workshop was held on April 22, 2021. BAR’s citation program currently authorizes citations for unlicensed automotive repair activity. A similar citation program also exists for licensed Smog Check stations and technicians for violations of the Health and Safety Code.

ADA website compliance and web accessibility are two terms that are used interchangeably but they are distinct from one another.

ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. Courts are construing Title III of the ADA to mean that websites must be accessible. Thus, with ADA website compliance, we're referring to the law.
