Early Childhood Educators Invited to Participate in ELRC Listening Sessions

Early childhood educators, your input is requested in the Early Learning Resource Centers (ELRCs) Listening Session. The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) is seeking stakeholder input related to the ELRC model. What is working with ELRCs? Are there gaps in the current system of ELRCs? Early childhood education professionals are invited to share their perspectives about Pennsylvania’s ELRCs during listening sessions throughout July and August. Stakeholders are welcome to participate in the session that best fits their schedule, however special sessions for family child care, group child care and school age child care programs are available. CLICK HERE to register for a listening session.

Master the Pyramid Model with High-Quality, Evidence-Based E-modules

Do you need training on the Pyramid Model for promoting the social-emotional competence of young children?
The experts at the Pyramid Model Consortium have developed online training modules to strengthen your implementation of all three tiers of the effective framework for nurturing social-emotional skills.

Child Care Consultants has purchased access to a limited number of these modules to be given to qualified providers. Selected programs must agree to print handouts, have selected staff complete the modules, and schedule participating staff to participate in follow-up TA calls or visits (1 or 4 depending on the length of the module). Because these are online modules with self-check tests, one person must be the assigned participant, but multiple staff may use the modules and handouts. (Note: two CCC staff will be receiving monthly reports on training participation.) All STAR levels are eligible and invited to participate.

Click here to access the application.

Tips for Dealing with Summer Stress
  1. Create a routine for your family, including regular meals and bed times.
  2. Develop behavior contracts with older children and use positive reinforcement. "Catch" the children being good and reinforce that behavior.

  4. Take time to take care of yourself; if possible, share the workload with your partner.
  5. Lead by example.
  6. Begin writing in a journal.
  7. Take time for your favorite hobby.
  8. Don’t forget to exercise even if it is just a walk around the block.
  9. Enjoy your favorite music.
  10. Seek out social support from family and friends; ask for help when you need it.
  11. Focus on the good; acts of warmth, kindness, and caring.
  12. Budget for more time to get things done.
  13. Remember to play with your children and have fun.
  14. Don’t forget to eat well and get rest.
