From the Texas Cotton Fields to the United States Tax Court: The Life Journey of Juan F. Vasquez authors, Anthony Head and Mary Theresa Vasquez
"I've always looked up to my father, but reading his story this way has made me humble beyond words to be my father’s son,” says Jaime Vasquez, partner at Chamberlain Hrdlicka.
Judge Juan F. Vasquez is the first Hispanic American appointed to the United States Tax Court. The book depicts his journey surmounting numerous challenges such as poverty, manual labor, and discrimination.
The cover artwork is a Jesse Treviño commission and represents Judge Vasquez as a child working in the field alongside his grandfather, who raised him. Judge Vasquez’s children, Jaime and Juan Vasquez, Jr., are both tax attorneys and his daughter-in-law is Judge Veronica Vasquez of Probate Court No. 2. Jaime also serves as a SABA Director. He adds, “My father’s story will inspire my children and other children for generations to come.”
