LEARN THE GAME, LOVE THE GAME

Dear LFSA families,
What a great start to the Spring season! We had a number of teams play in a pre-season tournament in Wheeling a couple weekends ago. Everyone survived the rain and we brought home a Championship trophy for the U10 girls, as well as a second place finish for the U11 girls. Congrats to the players and to Coach Susie who leads both those teams!
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome all of the new players and families that have joined our LFSA family. We have over 100 Young Scouts players this Spring. It is truly awesome to see so many little ones out there on Friday afternoons, starting their soccer journeys. To the parents of those Young Scouts players with 2013 and 2014 (older 2015s can potentially “play up” as well) birthdays please keep your eyes out for communication about tryouts coming up in mid-May as your kids will transition into the travel portion of our club.
One more thing I want to throw out there. We would like to offer our local community businesses an opportunity to sponsor our program. LFSA is a not-for-profit organization so we rely not only on fees but also donations and sponsorships to run our amazing programming. Did you know that we needed to purchase three sets of brand new goals for Everett this spring? The Lake Forest Park District changed their partner organization policies this year, which necessitated this significant additional cost for the club. There are sponsorship highlights below in case any of our families are local business owners or work for a company that may be interested in supporting our club. Please reach out if you would like more details.
Enjoy watching your kids play this Spring, I hope you love it as much as I do!
Best,
Meredith

Dear LFSA Family,
I am so excited that we are finally back to competitive play against other clubs this Spring! We kicked off the season with a great tournament and now our teams are back to playing league games after 17 long months without them. It feels good to have come through this difficult time together, as an LFSA family. I am so proud of our coaching staff for doing such a great job during these difficult times and showing how much they all care about our players. Also, I am so grateful to all of you for your support of our coaches and our program.
Now we are also getting ready for tryouts during the month of May, which is always a crazy time for the coaching staff! I never thought I would miss tryouts, but I am so happy we are healthy and getting back to our usual routine. I enthusiastically invite all of you to tryouts. There are more tryout details included below. Together, with your support and commitment, we can make our club stronger than ever. I'm looking forward to seeing you all during games, practices, tournaments and at tryouts! LFSA OLE!
Summer Camps
Our summer camp offerings are a great way for players to have fun playing soccer, work on their skills, and spend time with friends who share their love of the game. We hope that your players will be able to join us for one or both of our summer camp offerings. Please share this information with friends as these camps are open to all. See below for more details.
Best wishes,
Oktay Akgun

Can you believe it's already time to start planning for the next soccer season?
|
|
LFSA is once again hosting in-person soccer tryouts for the 2021-2022 season which kicks off in fall 2021. Please note that all players, new and returning, need to register and try out every year. Be sure to register your son or daughter in advance of your scheduled tryout date and plan on attending both sessions. Every year we conduct tryouts to select players for the following season's teams. This process is necessary for the functioning of every travel club, but the time of year can be both exciting and stressful for players, coaches, and parents alike. We would like to help our players feel confident and positive when they participate in tryouts so please take a look at the following tips:
-
Rest & sleep - Get a good night's rest the night before your scheduled tryout date.
-
Arrive early - Try to get to the fields early so you don't miss out on any instructions or activities.
-
Equipment - Regular LFSA practice attire, a pumped up ball, and water.
-
Stay positive & don't give up - If you make a mistake on the field, keep trying. As coaches, we look for how players react to all situations on the field. If you lose the ball, but you immediately run back on defense, it shows us that you have a good work ethic and are willing to do whatever it takes to help the team.
-
Pay attention - Make sure you always listen and pay attention to what the coaches are saying. Ask questions if you are unsure of the game or activity you are doing.

Do you have a friend, neighbor, or family member who loves soccer? Then invite them to tryouts! Any current LFSA player who brings a new family to try out will be entered to win a Team USA jersey!!!

Just a reminder, LFSA has partnered with FC United to create a new player pathway for our older players. LFSA will continue independently for Young Scouts & travel, ages U8-U11. FC United (North) will be the new home for our older players, ages U12-U19. Oktay is a Director in both clubs.

LFSA Summer Camps are a fun training opportunity for boys and girls 7-12 years old. Our Professional Coaches will teach your child basic and advanced soccer skills in a fun, structured environment. Campers will be divided by age and skill level. The camps will focus on skill-specific drills, technical training, and fun activities. All activities and training are run by our USSF licensed coaches in a safe and supervised environment. The fee is $195 per player for one session or $350 per player for both. Questions?
