CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WORKING WOMEN MONTH

MARCH 2021 is a great enlightening time during today's present crisis...

It's our time to raise up high our radical tradition of celebrating "International Working Women 's Month"...the leading role of "everyday women workers" in advancing the struggle against patriarchy, gender & women's oppression, white supremacy, systematic racism, colonialism and imperialism and all other oppressions and forms of exploitation.

We encourage you to participate in this annual tradition by studying, learning valuable lessons, and raising up the historical leading roles of us working women around the world in our workplace, community. Society and world. Today, we must continue to take the lead and make history.

From slave rebellions & abolishment, freedom and Black liberation movements, workers/labor rights, and every social justice movement to the present, working women have led.

Celebrate! Study our contributions and role! Continue to make history!
Celebrate Artist Activist Anne Feeney's
Life & Social Justice Work
On February 3rd the Fruit of Labor Singing Ensemble lost a great friend, comrade, and supporter, Anne Feeney. Anne was a powerful and passionate cultural activist and labor singer-songwriter. The Fruit met her over thirty-five years ago when we were part of the Black Workers for Justice’s "Organize the South” Northeast Tour
(early1990's traveling effort to educate union, labor, and community organizations about the need to bring greater resources to unionize Southern workers). She certainly believed, as we do in the FOL, that cultural activists’ art should document, educate, motivate and inspire the labor movement and movements for social justice and human rights. Anne certainly did not mind or shy away from getting in your face and speaking truth to power. She brought the heat and energy to many a picket line, rally, or fundraiser for worker rights and justice! She was right there with our Fruit of Labor and UE 150 members, Nathanette and Angaza, as they initiated the taking of a knee at the 2017 United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers‘ National Convention during the singing of the National Anthem. We will always remember her strong stand voice, energy, and commitment as we use the music she left with us and the new music that we create to continue inspiring the movement.

Gardening by the Bucket & Gardens for Everyone
Interested in learning about and growing your own healthy food? It’s easy! He will show new gardeners how to grow food anyplace in – you guessed it – a bucket!
Our community garden club will also plant and grow vegetables in our FOLWCC Raised Bed Garden on site which the organization Gardens for Everyone is helping us build. New gardeners will learn about gardening soil and how to make a good mixture to grow the biggest and best produce, what to plant, how to plant, fertilizing, watering, and harvesting. At the end of the season, BWFJ member, Cynthia Evans, will teach a class on canning and freezing food. Throughout the growing season, we will also share nutritious recipes on cooking healthy soul food! The gardening program will be initiated the first week in April. Send us an email or call if you are interested and want to register for it. Remember to leave your name, number, and email.
