Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, Indiana
From Reverend Mary Ann Macklin

1) Seeking the Spirit. Building Community. Changing the World.
As leaders and members of this congregation, we are called upon, again and again, to live out the values and wisdom of this, our congregational vision. In these past few years of change and challenge, our Board of Directors has embodied the essence of this vision. Please take time to thank them in your own way during the month of May.

2) Dance. Dance. Dance. ----Video referenced in Sunday's Service---
Whether from your chair or on your feet, we invite you to learn the choreography of this dance from our friends Darrelyn Valdez and Crystal White. We will have numerous opportunities over the summer for participating in a congregational movement video.

3) Insightful Video.
I offer this again, due to such a positive response:

Take Gentle Care,
Mary Ann

Pledged Yet?
Our goal is $675,000 and our current total is $475,000.

1) Why are we doing this? a) So we can continue to provide our inspiring programming, services, and outreach in the coming year, and b) So we can figure out compensation for our amazing ministers and staff.
2) Why would we like your pledge info now? c) So we can plan for a) and b) above, and d) So we can prepare a coherent budget for approval at our Annual Congregational Meeting on June 13.

We hope you will join us in financially supporting our dynamic congregation for the coming fiscal year, 2021-22 (starts July 1, 2021) so we can continue to Seek the Spirit, Build Community, and Change the World!

Many thanks if you have already pledged. If you have not yet made your pledge, you can use this handy online form to do so today: bit.ly/Sunshine2122. You can also pledge by calling or texting Church Administrator Carol Marks at 812-287-9615 or sending your pledge amount to her at admin (at) uubloomington.org, or mailing in the pledge card we mailed you awhile back.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

8th Principle Commitment:
Where Do We Go from Here?
All-Congregation Discussion on May 2 at 11:30 a.m.

As we finish up our congregational reading of Caste we hope you're planning to come to our church-wide meeting this Sunday, May 2nd, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, where we will reflect together on:

1. Our individual experiences reading Caste and the one or two take-aways we believe are most critical in terms of changed perspective and what we do as individuals moving forward.

2. How each of us and the institutions we are part of create and maintain hierarchies that give some groups more power than others. What might true structural change look like in these institutions?

3. How we can support one another in our shared 8th Principle commitment to journey "towards spiritual wholeness by creating a diverse, multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions."

To help enrich and guide our conversation, please click here to share (anonymously, if you wish) some of your reflections on these questions. Please respond by today (April 30th) in order for your reflections to be incorporated in the Sunday conversation. Later submissions are also welcome.

Also at the gathering on May 2, you'll hear more about the upcoming 21-Day Racial Justice Challenge, our Summer 8th Principle Congregational Read, and our Board's latest thinking. We hope you'll join us--just click here to join the meeting on May 2.
