Opportunities to Change from DL to In-Person

We are excited to have students back on campus 5 days a week for in-person instruction. If your student is in Distance Learning, and you wish for them to return to in-person instruction beginning April 26, please complete this form by Monday, April 19 at 8 p.m. to be considered. Sites will look at intent to return responses, and decisions will be made soon after the survey closes. 
New Podcast Episode Released on New Virtual Academy Launching Fall 2021

Coming Fall of 2021, the Natomas Unified School District is launching a brand new virtual academy. Listen to our latest podcast episode with Esther Perez, Executive Director of the Virtual Academy, and Tonja Jarrell, Assistant Superintendent, as they dive into some of the unique aspects of the virtual academy, including flexible student learning schedules, extracurricular activities, special education and EL supports, and more.

School Board Approves New Names for Dual Immersion, Virtual Academy, and PVS Library 
 
It’s official! The Natomas Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved Heredia-Arriaga School for the new Dual Immersion school, Larry Meeks Academy as the name for our new Virtual Academy launching this fall, and for the new Paso Verde School library, in honor of Bernard Marks. SacRT Free Transit for Students

The City of Sacramento RydeFreeRT program offers fare-free transit for youth and students in grades TK-12. With RydeFreeRT, youth can ride the entire SacRT transit network for free, including SacRT buses, light rail, and SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit service. RydeFreeRT is available all day, any day of the week, during regular SacRT service hours. 

While year 1 stickers from 19-20 have been extended through Sept. 30, new cards/stickers are now available for new students, students who lost their student ID, never received one due to the pandemic, and/or are in a grade that wouldn't directly use or require a student ID and need parent permission (usually TK-6 grade). Students who have returned to campus for in-person learning are encouraged to check with their school secretary to obtain a new card/sticker.

We are excited to recognize more staff members who continue to work tirelessly throughout the pandemic to further prioritize the health and safety of our schools and students. Natomas Schools Foundation Participating in Big Day of Giving

The Natomas Schools Foundation is participating in the Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 6! Big Day of Giving is an opportunity for the community to participate in a 24-hour giving challenge to support non-profit organizations like the Natomas Schools Foundation to help fulfill their mission to support students.

NSF's goal is to raise $10,000 on May 6! To get in on the giving specifically on May 6, please click here.

Natomas Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Opportunities Available

The Natomas Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its annual scholarship award. There will be five awards given away this year. All graduating seniors are encouraged to apply. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, please visit the Natomas Chamber of Commerce website for an application and more information.
$1,000 Operation Recognition College Scholarship

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is accepting applications now through April 19 for an essay contest honoring local veterans. This year's Operation Recognition Scholarship essay theme is "Why We Must Appreciate America's Veterans." The $1,000 scholarship is offered courtesy of SAFE Credit Union. Natomas Schools Foundation Announces Scholarships for Local Students

The Natomas Schools Foundation (NSF) is proud to announce its annual scholarship program. The NSF will be offering scholarships to students who attend high school in the Natomas Unified School District. It is offering multiple scholarships - some $1,000, and others $500 for current high school seniors. Click here to learn more.
