Welcome to the Week of October 25, 2020
We sincerely hope your Fall Break was relaxing and rejuvenating and are looking forward to beginning the second quarter of our school year. Quarter 2 is an exciting time in our classrooms. As students have adjusted to expectations and routines, the second quarter brings more opportunities for Socratic conversation and deeper inquiry into our rich academic content.

Gary Paulsen wrote, “Patience.... So much of this was patience—waiting, and thinking, and doing things right. So much of all this, so much of all living was patience and thinking.” As we continue to be vigilant in upholding protocols designed to keep everyone safe, including properly wearing masks, washing hands, checking for symptoms, and maintaining social distancing, we ask you continue to reinforce the importance of these procedures with your child as well. As we continue to work with students both in person and remotely, we continue to need your support and patience as we navigate concurrent schooling together as partners.

As we move into Quarter 2, our focus is on assisting our students as the pace quickens, providing immediate feedback, and increasing the breadth and depth of our classroom discussions. At school, we are able to monitor student work for completion and accuracy and recognize students who require additional support in the moment and provide whatever scaffolding is necessary to help our students be as successful as possible. For our Distance Learners, this task falls to the parent as we cannot be present with you in your homes. We need families to monitor their children's work for completion and accuracy and ensure that all assigned work is turned in a timely manner. As the pace quickens, remote students need to maintain the same strides as our in-person students in order to reach the same academic milestones.

A Closer Look
Quarter 2 Google Classrooms
New Google Classrooms have been created for Quarter 2. All Distance Learning students should already have been added. You do not need a classroom code. Simply log in to Google Classroom and click the blue "Join" button. If you log in to Google Classroom and still do not see your child's class, please email Mr. Beyer and we will help out right away.
New Zoom Links
Our teachers have created new Zoom links for Quarter 2. Please refer to the most recent newsletter from your child's teacher. The Zoom meeting information and links will also be posted to each grade level's Google Classroom for convenient access each day.
Carline and Placards
If your child is returning to in-person schooling for the first time, please be sure to review our recently-updated carline maps. The line your family should use may have changed. Name placards will come home with your students on their first day.

Grade 4 Open Forum
Parents of Fourth Grade scholars are invited to a virtual Open Forum with Ms. Finn over Facebook Live on Tuesday, October 27 beginning at 8am.

Storybook Festival
Our second annual Storybook Festival is this Friday! Please consider donating a work of classical children's literature from our Amazon Wish List to help us grow our school library.
