2020 SCCS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS THIS WEEKEND

Annually, the SCCS
Board
of Directors holds
elections
to fill open seats. This year there are two openings. The term for
elected board
positions is three years, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
Online voting will be open beginning Saturday, June 13 at 4:00pm
and will close Sunday, June 14 at 6:00pm.
Those unable to vote online can go to St Mary's parish office Monday or Tuesday before noon to obtain a paper ballot and submit to the office.
This year's candidates include:
Ryan Dillard
currently serves on the SCCS Board of Directors as an appointed member representing St. Mary's Parish and serves as Co-Chair of the Development Committee. Ryan and his wife, Erin, have three children enrolled at SCCS: Cullen (5th grade), Macklin (3rd grade) and Kaelan (1st grade). In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Ryan volunteers at SCCS as a 3rd & 4th grade basketball coach and an officer and coach for the Panthers Baseball Club. Ryan works at Cedar Fair as Corporate Manager, Project Development. He graduated from Indiana University in 2000 with a BS in Public Affairs and received his MBA from Miami University in 2008.
"Over the past year, I have been privileged to represent St. Mary's Parish on the SCCS Board of Directors. I am proud to have had the opportunity to both contribute and witness the dedication of our Board, Administrators, Teachers and Staff as we worked through the challenges of this past year. I am now seeking the opportunity to continue my service as an elected member of the Board of Directors. I am confident that my professional experience and personal value for Catholic education, will provide the skills and qualities to have a positive impact on the future growth, development and success of SCCS, it's students, and our community."
Rick Jeffrey
'65 is currently in his third term as Erie County Auditor. He is a 1970 graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. Rick and his wife Gayle are both graduates of St. Mary High School. Their three children are all graduates of SMCC, Kim is a graduate of Toledo University working for PNC Bank, Becky is a teacher at All Saints School and Tom is Athletic Director at Edison High School, both are graduates of BGSU. Rick has been involved at SMCC since 1972, including the CCAB, former SMCC Advisory Board Member, SCCS Finance Committee for over 20 years and currently keeps score for all girls and boys basketball games. He is involved at St. Mary's Parish as Mass Coordinator, lay distributor and lector.
"I have been passionate about the role of faith-based education in our society. Gayle and I have been working to provide financial support to keep quality staff and teachers in our school system. My education and experience at St. Mary High School were the foundations that helped make me the person I am today. I would be honored to serve SCCS to help ensure that future generations of our area have the opportunity to attend a school system the focuses on Mind, Body and Spirit."
Benjamin Dinsmore
is the Director of Manufacturing at Humanetics Innovative Solutions (Crash Test Dummies). He and his wife Andrea have six children, 5 of whom will be attending SCCS this fall. Isabella is a 2020 graduate, Jackson will be a junior, Sophia with be a freshman, Elijah is in 6th, Evelyn in 4th and Abigail will be a First grader. He and his family are members of St. Mary's Parish.

FINAL FORMS ONLINE REGISTRATION REMINDER
SCCS YEARBOOKS AND ELEMENTARY CLASS COMPOSITES
Preschool through grade eight yearbooks and preschool through grade five class composites will be available in the fall.
WORK PERMIT PROCESS DURING PANDEMIC
According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, if a minor has all necessary paperwork completed and is unable to get the work permit processed due to school closure, the completed paperwork may itself stand in the place of the physically printed permit. Employers should keep the paperwork on file. The formal permit should be processed as soon as the school has reopened. Watch Panther Connect for updates.
PRESCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS |
The Stuff the Bus Committee of Erie County, in partnership with Erie County Local School Districts, is collaborating to collect and distribute school supplies for the 2020/2021 school year. It is their goal this fall to assist as many students as possible entering grades K-5 whose families may be financially burdened by the cost of school supplies.
PANTHER ELEMENTARY CROSS COUNTRY
The Panther Elementary Cross Country Program is a running club that introduces children to the sport of running and living a healthy life style. Students will participate in fun run races at SCCS Junior High and High School Cross Country events. The season starts in late August and runs through early October.

GRADES 7-12 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Since we are unable to have any pre-season meetings at this time, we want to reach out to all those who may be interested in playing junior high or high school volleyball. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 quarantine, we are not sure when open gyms or regular season will begin, but we will contact everyone on our list when the time comes.
