Hot Springs Village continues to keep our members informed on the latest information about COVID-19 locally and in the state of Arkansas. Currently, we are continuing to follow Phase 2 Directives from the Arkansas Department of Health.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson started things off with thanking health care workers for being "hard at work" over the holidays and acknowledged their heavy caseloads due to the virus.
Arkansas saw COVID-19 cases continue to climb over the weekend with 587 cases on Saturday, 605 on Sunday and 439 today. This brings the total to 24,253 cumulative cases in the state.
As of today, 6,127 are considered active with 117 in nursing homes, 456 in correctional facilities and 5,554 in the community. In neighboring Pulaski County, there were 46 new cases.
Since yesterday, there have been five more deaths due to COVID-19. That brings the total number of deaths to 292 in the state. The number of hospitalizations is up by 12, bringing the total to 337. Of the 337 hospitalized, 81 are on ventilators.
Hutchinson said that the state will be spending a total of $40 million on contact tracers. These contact tracers will be from two separate contractors who will be receiving $20 million each. One will utilize 350 tracers and another 300. The $20 million for the second contractor has yet to be approved.

Saline & Garland Counties
As of Monday, Saline County, 353 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County and 9,358 have tested negative. Of those testing positive, 232 have recovered. The death total remains at two.
In Garland County, 285 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 8,048 have tested negative. Of the people infected, 209 have recovered and one has died.
Cancellations & Postponements
- The Beboppers Dance scheduled for Saturday, July 25, has been canceled. The next two scheduled dances are Saturday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Sept. 19.
