State of Arkansas
Gov. Asa Hutchinson said at his daily COVID-19 that all nursing home residents and staff in Arkansas will be tested for COVID-19 starting June 1. He also thanked nursing home workers and recognized the challenges they face.

The primary focus of today's press conference was to announce the impact of COVID 19 on the Arkansas nursing home population and staff and to outline further testing plans and funding allocations for this particular population sector. You can watch the governor's daily update on his YouTube page here.

Hutchinson said that 39,700 tests have been given in May so far. The goal for testing this month is 60,000, so the state is almost two-thirds there.

Arkansas has also experienced its second-highest one-day total for community cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Arkansas so far has 4,923 COVID-19 cumulative cases, of which 3,739 are considered recovered. Of those, 1,082 are active with 369 cases in prisons and 83 in the state's nursing homes. The remaining 630 active cases that have been detected are in the community. Currently, there are 78 people hospitalized, 14 of those on ventilators, and 102 people have died from the virus.

A statewide map is available that shows national, state and county numbers in regards to COVID-19. As of May 19 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 91,179.
