Mission:
United by faith and service,
St. Anthony of Padua School community forms knowledgeable students who are moral and courageous Catholic leaders.
From Mrs. Pudelko:

I shared with the students a couple of weeks ago, but realized I had not officially announced to our St. Anthony families - Baby Pudelko is arriving in mid-September!

Thank you for your support and prayers during this exciting time!

My husband, Eric, and I are excited to welcome our first child and raise him/her alongside of all of you in the St. Anthony community.

  • First Communion: Congratulations to all of our 2nd grade student who will be making their First Communion this Saturday, May 1st. May the love of Jesus always fill your hearts. I look forward to celebrating this special day with you on Saturday. (**Students may wear their First Communion attire to May Crowning on Wednesday, May 5th.)

  • May Crowning: Because our students attend two different Masses during the week, we will be celebrating May Crowning at both Masses (May 5 and May 7). Wednesday, our 2nd grade student representatives will crown Mary and Friday, our 8th grade student representatives will crown Mary. Families are invited to send in flowers and two representatives from each homeroom may get dressed up to bring flowers to Mary. More information will be shared by homeroom teachers in classroom newsletters.

  • 13TH ANNUAL WILDCAT WALK: A St. Anthony tradition is coming next month! Information was sent home with students today, but please see the link for information on our upcoming Wildcat Walk scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2021: 13th Annual Wildcat Walk We encourage all families to fully participate!

**Cookbooks will also be available after Mass this weekend!

  • We continue to offer our referral scholarship again this year. If you have friends or family who may be interested, please pass along the information. We have openings in all grades levels and would love to welcome new members to our St. Anthony school community!

  • From the Diocese of Grand Rapids: West Catholic and Catholic Central High Schools lift previous boundary designations. After graduating from St. Anthony School, our students are blessed to have excellent Catholic high schools available to them, each with its own characteristics and charisms. At Catholic Central and West Catholic, it has been decided to change previous guidelines which limited admissions directors to reach out only to their traditional “partner” Catholic elementary schools. These admissions directors will begin broader outreach to the Catholic elementary schools in the near future. Parents are encouraged to choose the Catholic high school that is the best fit for their student(s) regardless of geographic location, parish, or the previous elementary-secondary partner arrangement. Make sure to consider all information that the Catholic high schools share with students and parents through their outreach. Talk to your school principal, admissions directors, or the Office of Catholic Schools for more information about continuing your child’s Catholic education in high school.

Meatless Mondays!

Do you know anyone who is a vegetarian? Maybe one of your own children wants to eat less meat or cut it out entirely. Or maybe you want to cut back on buying meat to help your grocery bill. Here are some simple guidelines for thinking about how much meat to eat:

· You do not need to eat meat, but you do need the nutrients it has. For example, meat has lots of protein and iron. You need to make sure you eat other foods that have these two nutrients.

· The best non-meat sources of protein are legumes (kidney, black, red, navy or other dried beans, split peas, peanuts, and lentils) and dairy foods. Legumes and fortified foods (such as most grains) are typically high in iron.

· Most people in the U.S. eat much more protein than they need. Cutting back on meat can keep your protein intake where it should be and save you money.

Thank you to Lisa Barnum, Betsy Pierson and Mary Wieber for helping to teach our Building Healthy Communities lessons in our elementary classrooms!
