Greetings!
We would like to invite you to be a participant in our Tech Spotlight on Tuesday, April 6th, highlighting a new center in biosynthetic chemistry and biology called the “BioPACIFIC MIP.”
UCSB and UCLA are ramping up a multi-million dollar user facility and research center, the BioPACIFIC MIP, funded by the National Science Foundation. The purpose of the MIP is to merge advances in synthetic biology and synthetic chemistry by providing a national user base access to scientific expertise, multiscale computation and simulation for materials design, and advanced instrumentation capabilities to enable data-driven discovery and scalable production of bio-derived building blocks and polymers from yeast, fungi and bacteria. Corporations will be an integral part of the success of the BioPACIFIC MIP and will be encouraged to participate in the workforce development and education programs, use the MIP facilities and hire the center's students and postdocs.
This forum provides an opportunity for you to learn about the program itself through a short series of talks followed by a panel discussion (see full agenda below). The program takes place on Tuesday, April 6th from 10:00-11:30am.
10:00-10:10 Josh Speros, Innovation Manger, BASF
10:10-10:20 Overview of Center
