Public Works update recaps past projects, highlights upcoming work
After a year full of projects in 2020, Public Works has initiatives in the pipeline for 2021 to continue maintaining Cleburne’s infrastructure and services.

Staff presented a Public Works update to the City Council at the Nov. 10 meeting. The presentation recapped completed work and provided a look at upcoming projects.

“The Public Works staff is doing a fantastic job,” Mayor Scott Cain said. “We’ve made a lot of progress on getting our streets and infrastructure back and I look forward to continuing these efforts for many more years in the future."
Be a champion for the community, join a city board or commission
The City of Cleburne is seeking those interested in being a champion for the community by serving on a city board or commission.

Board and commission members focus on community needs and play a role in the decision making process for a variety of sectors such as economic development, building and standards, parks and recreation, and more. The city is taking applications until Nov. 20.

Whistle Stop lights, parade return
Cleburne's holiday tradition, Whistle Stop, returns to display millions of lights every evening at Hulen Park, Johnson County Courthouse, and Market Square from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31.

The Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in Downtown Cleburne. After the parade, come to Hulen Park for pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a living Nativity Scene, and more.

Community Lifejacket station added to Lake Pat for youth safety
Cleburne Fire Department has partnered with Cooks Children’s to provide an added safety measure for families enjoying Lake Pat Cleburne.

Staff built a community life jacket station supplied with loaner youth life jackets by the boat ramp. The station features sizing and wear instructions. Community members should return the life jackets when they are finished at the lake so other families can stay safe as well.

Library offering Food for Fines food drive throughout November
Library patrons can donate canned or boxed foods for a fine waiver through November.

The Library will waive $1 in fines for each item of donated food up to a $5 limit.
