Because Lutherans love (current) group photos: The Emanuel's Confirmation Class of TWENTY-twenty is not so different from the 1920s Confirmation Class featured last week. Many proud remarks, and even calls to the church, congratulating the youth on their mature faith statements and thoughtfully planned service. The church is in good hands, y'all! See more photos of the day here. We are in this together. WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER. We may be apart, but we are not alone.

It has been a difficult year to both grieve and celebrate the lives of those we have loved and lost. The Emanuel's family will gather in worship on November 1st to hear the names of those who passed this year and the newly baptized.
We invite anyone to bring a standing, framed 5x7 photo of a loved one(s) they hold dear to place on the Remembrance Table below the altar.
Pastor Marcus shares more about this special service in the letter linked below.

CELEBRATING GENEROUS GENERATIONS
"Celebrating Generous Generations" is the theme of our 2021 stewardship appeal. Every week, you will have a chance to read about and celebrate all that we have accomplished, by the grace of God, during this 2020 year of ministry, as well as prayerfully consider all that God might be leading us to in 2021. Our goal, in 2021, is to increase our total giving by $288 per week to provide $15,000 extra toward our mission and ministry. Please reach out to our stewardship team, Susan Yeatts, Hazel Dalton, Keith Vinyard, and Donna Dodgen, if you have any questions. Thank you for all you have done and made possible in 2020!

Garden of Eatin' Partners with
Disciplinary Alternative School at Saegert
|
|
Last year we were excited to see life once again on the Saegert campus across the street from Emanuel's. Wayne Stalsworth and Pastor Marcus have been working with Seguin ISD's Disciplinary Alternative School at Saegert for several months to arrange a partnership so that the students can have access to, and help with, the Garden of Eatin'. The Garden of Eatin' is a community garden sponsored by Emanuel's Lutheran Church open to anyone who would like to grow and/or harvest produce.
Five Students from Saegert have been coming to the Garden of Eatin' on Tuesdays and Thursday for the last 3 weeks. So far they have built two 25 foot raised beds, and planted them. They have pulled a whole bunch of weeds, and brought cardboard mulch and put it between the rows to keep the weeds down.
Wayne reports that "these students are all hard workers and stay on task the whole time. They do good work. They have signed permission/liability release forms. They've learned what different herbs, lettuces, beans, and cherry tomato's taste like. They seem to enjoy working in the garden, and I enjoy working with them. The garden has truly become an educational garden again."
It is a joy to celebrate cooperative action in our community. Thanks to Wayne for sharing his love of the earth with others. If you have questions about the garden, the program with Saegert, or you just like to pull weeds, stop by anytime.
