Presentations, Posters sought for
2022 CYFS Summit on Research in Early Childhood

In preparation for the sixth biennial CYFS Summit on Research in Early Childhood, we are soliciting research presentation and poster proposals from University of Nebraska faculty and graduate students. 

Call for Presentations 
Faculty in the University of Nebraska system who are interested in presenting at the summit are invited to submit research proposals. Selected presentations will represent a range of early childhood issues and topics. CYFS faculty affiliates, NAECR researchers and NAECR student researchers are encouraged to apply.

Call for Posters
Graduate students from the University of Nebraska system are invited to submit poster proposals for presentation at the summit, provided at least one faculty member serves as a co-author. Faculty are encouraged to share this information with any graduate students who might be interested in this opportunity.

Presentation and poster proposals are due on or before Jan. 31, 2022.

Baby’s First Years Study Seeks Research Technician

The Baby’s First Years study team is seeking a Research Technician to pilot and subsequently run lab-based and home-based data collection.

The Baby’s First Years study is a pathbreaking random-assignment study of the impact of monthly unconditional cash gifts to low-income mothers of infants during the first four years of their child’s life. The aim is to understand the causal effects of poverty reduction on early childhood development and family life.

New! Funding Forecast: HRSA Early Childhood Developmental Health System

The purpose of the Early Childhood Developmental Health System program is to fund the study and implementation of integrated statewide health promotion, screening and intervention systems that advance early childhood developmental health and well-being, with a focus on P-3 populations experiencing persistent poverty and/or health disparities.

New! Funding Forecast: SAMHSA Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Grant Program

The purpose of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant program is to improve outcomes for children by developing, maintaining or enhancing infant and early childhood mental health promotion, intervention and treatment services.

University of Nebraska Collaboration Initiative

The primary purpose of the Collaboration Initiative is to enhance the competitiveness of University of Nebraska faculty for extramural funding by fully leveraging intellectual capacity and research resources across the campuses. The funding opportunity is designed to facilitate and strengthen research collaborations among NU faculty.

Team Formation and Publication Grant Budget: Up to $7,500
Preliminary Data and Application Preparation Grant Budget: Up to $40,000
Team Seed Grant Budget: Up to $150,000

Proposal due date: Jan. 17, 2022

National Science Foundation Development Sciences Program

The Developmental Sciences Program supports basic research that increases our understanding of cognitive, linguistic, social, cultural and biological processes related to human development across the lifespan.

Research supported by this program will add to our knowledge of the underlying developmental processes that support social, cognitive and behavioral functioning, thereby illuminating ways for individuals to live productive lives as members of society.

Expected award budget: $100,000 – $200,000

Proposal due date: Jan. 17, 2022

UNL Grand Challenges Catalyst Competition

The Office of the Chancellor and the Office of Research and Economic Development have committed $40 million toward the Grand Challenges Catalyst Competition. Up to $10 million is available for allocation each year in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Please review the UNL Grand Challenges Catalyst Competition RFP. The competition will be held annually from 2022 to 2025.

Letter of intent deadline: Feb. 28, 2022.
Proposal deadline: April 29, 2022.

Funding Forecast: Secondary Analyses of Child Care Data, Secondary Analyses of Head Start and Early Head Start Data

The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation in the Administration for Children and Families plans to solicit applications in 2022 for two new research grant programs. Findings from both programs are intended to inform policy, program administration and future research.

Secondary Analyses of Child Care Data
Proposals will support researchers conducting secondary analyses of data to address key questions of relevance to the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF).

2022 CYFS Summit on Research in Early Childhood

• Communicate cutting-edge early childhood findings from NU-affiliated researchers and colleagues.
• Link ongoing efforts in early childhood research, practice and policy.
• Advance the science of early childhood education and development via connections among community partners, key stakeholders, policymakers, early childhood practitioners and researchers.

National Research Conference on Early Childhood 2022

June 27-29, 2022
Arlington, Virginia

This three-day event presents the latest research about Head Start, Early Head Start, child care, home visiting, child welfare, special education, pre-kindergarten, early elementary and other early childhood programs.

The conference aims to strengthen programs serving young children, inform those establishing national policies for low-income families, and contribute to a meaningful research agenda in the early childhood field.

The APA is currently accepting proposals for programs and poster presentations that cover a variety of topics. APA is looking for submissions that include attendee engagement and activities for deeper learning.
