OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS

Seniors, Crosby Scholars Program is here to support you! The Senior Program is designed to support your needs as you prepare for college and life after high school.

Have you completed the College Fair/Visit requirement? There are 2 college fairs this week that you can attend to complete the requirement.
October is a big month for college financial planning. The FAFSA opened on October 1st. Crosby Scholars Scholarship applications also opened on October 1st.
Crosby Scholars Program has several Senior Academy options to support you this month, including our Essay Review Services.

COLLEGE FAIRS

Remember! The College Fair/Visit deadline for Seniors is October 31, 2022.

WS/FCS CACRAO College Fair

If you have not yet completed your College Fair/Visit requirement, you can attend the upcoming WS/FCS CACRAO College Fair at the Benton Convention Center on Thursday, October 6th, from 4:00-8:00pm.

Colleges and Universities from across the country will be in attendance. Click here to see a full list of colleges attending.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. Scan the QR code or click the button to complete pre-registration through StriveScan. When students pre-register, they will receive a text reminder about the event with their personal barcode. The personal barcode will help students connect with college representatives they meet at the college fair.

The College Fair/Visit requirement includes visiting four (4) colleges by attending a college fair or visiting colleges individually & submitting the College Fair/Visit Form.

Attend a Senior Academy to help you with the college admissions process! Look through the Senior Academies below, select which is best for you, & register to attend.

Remember! Details and registration are in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal.

All Seniors must complete at least one (1) Senior Academy by December 12, 2022.

SENIOR ACADEMY: WEBINAR RECORDINGS

Did you miss a Senior Academy webinar that you wanted to attend? Want to complete Senior Academy on your own time?

Recordings of Senior Academy webinars are posted in the Crosby Scholars Student Portal for you to view and earn Senior Academy credit. New recordings are added as Senior Academies take place. Remember to complete the Confirmation of Attendance survey provided in the recording in order to receive credit for attending.

HOW CAN CROSBY SCHOLARS HELP ME WITH MY ESSAYS?

1. Essay Review Workshops: Need a last-minute review of your essays before submitting your applications? Bring your college admissions & scholarship application essays to our in person Essay Review Workshops for immediate feedback on your essays & the ability to discuss your essay with a reader. October Essay Review Workshops are scheduled for Monday, October 10th, & Wednesday, October 19th, from 6:00-8:00pm at Crosby Scholars. Register in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal.

2. Essay Review Service: Submit your college & scholarship application essays to Crosby Scholars Program for review! We'll give you suggestions for improvement before you send your essay off to colleges. See more details in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal.

THE ADVISING CORNER

MEET WITH YOUR SENIOR ADVISOR

Completing & submitting Conference Notes on time helps students progress through the college admission process with the full support of their Advisor & the Crosby Scholars Program.

Scholars, if you have not met with your Advisor to complete Conference Notes 1 & 2, please contact your Advisor right away. CN1 meetings were due July 31 & CN2 meetings were due September 30.

The FAFSA Opened October 1!

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The application is now open at studentaid.gov.

Crosby Scholars hosted a "How to Complete the FAFSA" webinar to walk you step-by-step through the process. Click on the button above to watch the recording.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Crosby Scholars Night at the Piedmont Opera! October 19th at 7:30 PM

Attend La traviata at the UNC School of the Art's Stevens Center for FREE thanks to the Piedmont Opera and AM Erectors!

A drawing will be held for a $250.00 scholarship awarded to a junior or senior Crosby Scholar who attends the performance! Crosby Scholars may enter the drawing before the performance by checking in with a staff member in the lobby.

Call the Piedmont Opera at (336) 725-7101 to reserve your tickets today! Tickets must be reserved by 5 PM on Monday, October 17th. Tickets for Crosby Scholars are FREE. The ticket price for chaperones is $15. See more details in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal.
