Our faculty’s efforts in high quality research and education are being recognized by both external and internal entities. Drexel University was named one of 10 innovative institutions by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and our bachelor’s in environmental engineering was ranked sixth by GradReports .

Congratulations to our 10 tenure and promotion faculty who were approved by the Board to move up in rank. We applaud your sustained research, teaching, and service efforts and look forward to all of your future accomplishments and continued work in our College.

Recognize our 2020 Graduates

In the absence of a live ceremony for College of Engineering graduates, we are developing a commencement website to acknowledge the accomplishments of our students. Faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the website to share a photo or video message of congratulations.

ASEE Panel on Diversity and Inclusion
Dean Walker served as a panelist as part of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Engineering Deans Gender Equity (ASEE) discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” in the time of COVID-19. Catch Dean Walker as she shares her perspective on how this is impacting faculty. She currently serves as a director on the ASEE Engineering Deans Council Executive Board.

The Growth of Nanotechnology Through Interdisciplinarity
The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office had Dean Walker as a guest speaker to highlight how the nanotechnology community has evolved over the years and the role that interdisciplinarity and access to instrumentation and tools have played. Listen to the podcast .
Congratulations to Dr. Masoud Soroush and Dr. Ali Shokoufandeh (CCI) 

A National Science Foundation GOALI was awarded for “ GOALI: Paints/Coatings In-Silico Product Design and Real-Time Product-Quality Monitoring and Control .” This academia-industry collaborative research with industry partner Axalta Coating Systems will study and develop computational methods that will enable paints and coatings (PC) manufacturers to design and validate customized PC products in silico, and produce customized PC products with consistent properties in the presence of operation uncertainties.

Preserve Your COVID Stories!

The Drexel University archives want to hear from faculty to contribute to the newly launched Pandemic Stories: Drexel’s COVID-19 Documentation Project . This project will record and preserve the University’s responses to COVID-19 and how the pandemic has affected the Drexel community. Please contact the Drexel archives for further details.

Online Learning Council Summer Professional Development Courses

To support effective online course design and pedagogy, Drexel University's Online Learning Council Faculty Fellows will be offering three sessions of the Essentials of Online Teaching professional development course. You are encouraged to participate in these and register here .

  • New Senate representatives are Mira Olson (CAEE), Steven Wrenn (CBE), Ioannis Savidis (ECE), Antonios Kontsos (MEM), and Christopher Weyant (MSE).
  • Senate Alternates are Adam Fontecchio (ECE), Jennifer Atchison (MEM), Irina Ciobanescu Husanu (ET), and Richard Chiou (ET).
  • SCAS representative is incumbent Irina Ciobanesu Husanu (ET), who will be serving her third term.
  • SCFA representative is incumbent Nicholas Cernansky (MEM), who will be serving his second term.
