Global Business School Network Case Competition

Students will be challenged with the fundamental reminder of the definition of logistics: coordinated separate activities which combine to one organized movement of goods, services, and people. This challenge incorporates this essential philosophy of logistics into the new and innovative study of social logistics, which aims to introduce a social (human) factor in the systems and to apply logistics principles and methods in solving problems within society.

Inclusive in this experience will be student-only networking sessions and open office hours for the GBSN team and experts to assist students in solution development.

Looking for Academic Support?

Wishing to improve your writing? The Business Communication Lab recommends that you following these helpful tips. This week's tip is centered on run-on sentences.

Run-on sentences are one of the most common problems in writing. Because popular word processors like Microsoft Word and Google Docs can overlook these mistakes, you need to understand the elements of a sentence to avoid them.

All complete sentences contain at least one independent clause

An independent clause contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete idea. When you have two independent clauses in the same sentence, a comma alone is insufficient to connect them.

Ex. “Laticia wrote the report.”

How to Succeed in College While Taking Care of Your Well-Being

Part 2

A brand new semester and a brand new start!

You’re ready to follow what’s true to your heart.

But papers and scheduling and timing and…stress?

Have left you all jumbled up in a mess!

Socialization

While learning about the business world is certainly a priority, knowing how to schedule time with others is just as important! Social interaction promotes feelings of happiness and improves cognitive functioning. So, technically, social interaction helps you get your work done!

Hang Out With Those Who Make You Happy

Nothing beats spending time with the important people in your life. It is always healthy to have people to talk to (especially if you have been cooped up inside). Whether you prefer to hang with fellow university students or longtime friends from home, you stand to benefit! Socializing with people who support and uplift you is necessary.

Set Boundaries

Remember: you do not have to say yes to every single invite. Making time for yourself is just as important as making time for other people. If you end up feeling overwhelmed by the thought of hanging out with others, it is probably best to take a rain check. After all, your friends can wait. Your peace of mind cannot!

In the end, what matters most is that you take care of yourself. Making time for exercise, breaks, and socialization allows you to succeed personally and academically.

One last thing! Exercise, breaks, and socialization are certainly not a cure-all for everything. If you are experiencing a significant amount of school-related stress, don’t hesitate to reach out to the mental health resource centers at the university (after all, that is what they are there for)!
