Share Your Scouting Unit's Best Practices with Others by Using Best Practices Forum
We are excited to share a brand new resource for unit leaders and volunteers that allows the sharing of best practices. Many leaders are looking for innovative ways to deliver program during a normal year and during Covid-19.
Through our Scouting Forward Together initiative, we have launched a new Unit Best Practices Forum for leaders to share and learn best practices that other units are using around our Council.
- Is your unit doing something well? Help to share it with others.
- Looking for a solution for your unit?
Search or post a question to the forum where Scout leaders can help each other. We expect this to continue to grow with your help.
Post or Share today by clicking here.

Youth Protection Training Must Remain Up-To-Date!
The safety of our Scouts is our most important priority. Youth Protection Training is required to be renewed every 2 years determined by the date it was taken, not by the recharter date. Volunteers and units should be aware
of Youth Protection Training expiration dates,
and make it a priority to renew training before expiration. An adult with expired youth protection is not a qualified Scout supervision and does not count towards 2-deep leadership.
Detailed instructions on how to run a Youth Protection Training Report for your unit can be found here.
Volunteers, Access Youth Protection Training here.

Save the Date: This Fall, We'll Be Scouting for Food – and We Need Your Help!
The Dan Beard Council is partnering with the Freestore Foodbank to launch Scouting for Food, a Council-wide service project that will collect food for those in need. Here’s how we’ll do it:
-
Saturday, November 6, 2021: Packs, Troops and Posts will fan out across their local neighborhoods, circulating flyers asking for non-perishable food donations.
-
On the following Saturday, November 13, 2021: Units will return to the homes where flyers were placed to collect the donations, which then will be dropped off at food pantries and Freestore Foodbank affiliated agencies in the units’ home district.
Click here for details and the latest updates.
