LeadingAge National Updates
The guidance for reopening nursing homes follows the phases of the White House’s Opening Up America Again and includes a recommendation that nursing homes plan for a baseline test of every resident and staff member with additional testing thereafter.

ISDH Updates
ISDH Newsletter - Issue 2020-35 05/18/2020
  • Addresses part of the federal goal of Mandatory Testing of All Long Term Care Staff and residents in the near future.
  • ISDH is asking all LTCFs to complete a survey to gauge feasibility of this effort. The survey takes only a couple of minutes to complete, but prior to taking it facilities should have an estimate of the total number of all staff working in the facility (e.g., CNAs, housekeeping, contract workers etc.).
  • In addition, facilities should discuss with their clinical staff on how they would accomplish getting all staff tested and what barriers might exist to achieving that. To help in this discussion a list of available testing sites around the state can be here.
