NHSBA Update: General Information

Dear NHSBA Members -

Please allow this email to serve as a general update relative to a few pending, important matters.

NH House of Representatives to Reconvene

Last week, it was announced that the NH House of Representatives is going to reconvene on June 11th using the Whittemore Center at the University of New Hampshire.  At this point, very few legislative committees have been meeting, so there is no legislation to report on.

It is unclear what the Senate's plans are at this point.  However, NHSBA will be tracking these latest developments, tracking legislation, and will report back to our members accordingly.

COVID-19 Related Issues

As you know, matters and guidance relative to COVID-19 continue to change at a rapid pace.  School districts are likely developing initial plans for summer programs and the re-opening of school in the fall, if possible.  In the meantime, the NHDOE has a dedicated page for COVID-19 information.

School Transition Reopening and Redesign Taskforce

As NHSBA reported last week, the NHDOE has started this Task Force to examine both the reopening of schools and the "redesign" of schools.  The first meeting of this Task Force last week was more introductory and stage-setting.  The Task Force will be holding two more public meetings.  Registration information can be found at the following link:

NHSBA will continue to report out on the Task Force's work and recommendations as these meetings progress.

Of importance, if your school board has thoughts, ideas, comments, questions or information for the Task Force, please send NHSBA your letters so we can ensure that school board voices are heard.  Any and all comments are welcomed.

NHSBA Dues for Next Year

NHSBA will be sending out dues notices sometime before the end of June.  We are pleased to report that there is no dues increase this year.  Even more notable is that this is the 12th year in a row that NHSBA has not had to raise dues.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or if NHSBA can be of service.  Thank you for your continued support.
