"God's Good Creation," A Summer Mission eXperience for Children

We've been enjoying every moment with our Mission X campers! They are inquisitive and creative, arriving each morning excited about the day’s activities and lessons. Members of our youth have served faithfully and joyfully. As the week draws to a close, we are thankful for a wonderful week of learning, sharing, and serving together. Catch more photos and videos from our fun week here.

Share Your Thoughts on Our “Coming Out of COVID” Reflection Boards

  • What were your struggles during COVID?
  • What are your struggles today?
  • What did you rejoice about during COVID?
  • What are you rejoicing about today?

The last year and a half have been quite the labyrinth walk! It’s had twisting turns – some expected, most not! There have been paths rocky and steep, but also paths smooth and some surprisingly easy. All of it, like life itself, touched by the Spirit’s mysterious beauty.

As we come out of COVID and begin our journey towards worship and life together with more physical proximity, it’s important for each of us to take time to better understand what we’ve been through and where we are now. As you enter worship each Sunday this summer you'll find two large “Coming Out of COVID” Reflection Boards. They’re designed to give you an opportunity to reflect upon the struggles and rejoicings you’ve experienced and are still experiencing. Take some time to add your reflections to the board, and look also at the reflections of others as the boards gather their responses. Come back to the boards over the weeks and add to them as you reflect more with each passing Sunday. Repeat reflections are welcomed, as they tell their own story of just how universal some of our experiences were and are. All ages are invited to participate.

Our hope is that these boards will become a visual representation of us as a congregation – where we’ve been and where we are now – and a gift to one another, allowing us to catch up and continue along the way as disciples of Jesus together.

Worship Volunteers Needed for the Summer

It takes an impressively large group of folks to make worship happen each Sunday. Won’t you be a part of it? We are currently in need of volunteers to fill a number of roles. Come, use your skills and give your time to serve your church family on Sunday mornings this summer and help celebrate our return to in-person worship in the Sanctuary. Newcomers welcome!
From the Racial Equity Team: Summer Opportunities for Education & Action

This summer, let’s continue to take steps to educate ourselves and to support black-owned businesses! As we participate in classes and groups such as these, we learn and change and can become a covenant community that more closely reflects the “Kin-dom” of God. Please contact Marietta if you’d like to added to the Racial Equity News & Resources email list.

Montreat Youth Conference is BACK!

We’re super-excited for the Montreat 2021 Youth Conference, July 18-24. Alex will send out an email very soon to participants and their family members with a detailed packing list, itinerary, and lots more important info. Contact Alex with any questions.
Serving Opportunity: Help Organize a School Supply Drive

The Local Missions Committee is searching for an individual to help coordinate the collection of school supplies for students in our local schools. This role will involve contacting the local elementary, middle, and high schools; preparing notices for church bulletin and newsletter to encourage supply donations; and securing volunteers to deliver the supplies to the schools. This project will take place in late August/early September. Please contact Elsa Woods if you are interested.
Westminster's Finance Office has received a donation from a Fidelity 401K to the Kathy Stickley Scholarship Fund, but there was no name associated with the check, and Fidelity will not disclose the sender. If it was you, please contact Sharon Morgan so we can properly credit you for the generous gift.
