Guild Ink
June 2020

President's Message

The Portsmouth Arts Guild is adapting to Covid-19 in creative ways(isn't that what an arts guild should do?).
This message introduces the Eileen Shandley Award winner at Portsmouth High School and shows her work. We also encourage people to vote for their favorite in the "Where Water Meets the Land" exhibit and consider entering our Juried All Photography Show. This will be a virtual show.  We also encourage you to visit our Facebook page where you will see some interesting art challenges in the near future.

I would like to introduce our new Education Director, Susan Graham. You will be hearing more from Suzi as she takes over this job. The board and many members want to thank our outgoing director, Suzanne Lewis, for her many years of dedicated and inspiring service to the guild.

Sarah Oesting
PAG President

Artist Statement

Art has always been a way for me to connect with myself and others. When I create an artwork, others can view it and see how it's a visual representation of the person I am! It's a way to communicate, to heal, and to help others. For my senior project this year, I illustrated a book to help others through their anxiety. It's incredible to create something that reaches other people! I will be studying anthropology at the University of Rhode Island next year! I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to have a deeper relationship with the beings of this earth, that have created and lived before me!
