REPORTING ATTENDANCE EVENTS:
If your child will be Absent, Arriving Late, or Leaving Early on a school day, please be sure to either email us at ms_attendance@waylandps.org or call the attendance line at 508- 358-3801/Select Option 1. Provide your child’s name and grade with the date(s) they will be absent or the approximate time they will be arriving late / leaving early. Precise attendance reporting is a challenge when students are remote, but your efforts to make the office aware of exceptions will help us to maintain accurate records. Thank you!

From Ms. Gavron
Dear WMS Families,

I hope you had a restorative February break. We are appreciative to be launching our COVID Pooled Testing this week.  We are so grateful to the cadre of volunteers who made it happen. In particular I wanted to give a shout out to Sejal Srinivasan and Lisa Raftery who have spearheaded the testing efforts at WMS.

Where and when will testing occur?
Testing will occur from 10:45 a.m. - 12:50 p.m on Tuesdays (Cohort A) and Fridays (Cohort B) during student lunches. Students who eat lunch in the cafeteria will test in the instrument storage area, right behind the cafeteria stage. Students who eat in the gym will test in the locker room right off the gym.  Individual swabbing stations are set up in these spaces. Mr. Benzie and I will send students from lunch to these testing spaces in an orderly fashion.

What is the test, and who will be administering them?
Our COVID testing partner is CIC Health. Pooled tests will be sent to the lab for results. Certified Nursing Assistants in full PPE will oversee the testing.

How do I self-swab?
Participants will collect their own sample via self-swabbing. If you are unfamiliar with this process, please see the link here:
(Note - students will be asked to rotate the swab 5 times per nostril, rather than the minimum 3 times described in the overview.)

Please make sure your child knows if you have signed them up to participate in this testing program, so it will not come as a surprise this week. Additionally, if you could preview the self swabbing process with your student, we would very much appreciate it.

If you have any questions about the process tomorrow, please feel free to email me.

Thank you,
Betsy
