“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High.” Psalm 92:1

Lord, I praise You and thank You for my work. At a time when so many are unemployed, I am grateful that I have a position that gives me the opportunity to share your love, goodness and grace. My job is really difficult right now, though, Lord God, and You know that! Give me calm and patience with my situation and with the technology that I need to do my job well. Help me to remember what is most important: that my chosen vocation gives me the ability to shape lives and influence people in positive ways every day, whether it’s taking time for teachable moments with my students or being a listening ear for a coworker. Lord, please let me be sympathetic to those who are unemployed right now. I pray that they may find fulfilling jobs. Thank You for my job and the ability to be a “missionary” for You. Season my words so that others taste and see that my Lord is good.

PSD All Workers Conference 2020:
Register Now!
We excitedly invite you to join us for our first-ever Pacific Southwest District All Workers Conference (AWC)! Registration is open! Although our conference will be virtual, we encourage you to safely gather at host sites to view the conference in fellowship with other Lutheran church workers. The conference will take place Monday and Tuesday, November 23 & 24. The cost is $50 per person. Our planning team is enthusiastically anticipating an excellent conference with first-rate keynote speakers and workshop presentations intended to equip and resource workers from all ministry areas. Click here for more information!
All Workers Conference Thankoffering
Hosting the All Workers Conference virtually won’t keep us from providing scholarships for children of Lutheran church workers who are studying at a Concordia University to become church workers! We are encouraging all workers to participate in this year’s Thankoffering. An envelope will be sent next week to each school for collecting the suggested $1 per year of service contribution from each worker at your site. All church workers are encouraged to participate: Administrators, Teachers, Pastors, DCEs, DPMs, DCOs, Deaconesses, and any other church worker. Please return your envelope to the District Office by Christmas Break. 100% of all monies collected will be distributed as scholarships. Thank you in advance for your generosity this year to this scholarship program!
Hearts for Jesus Information
Hearts for Jesus packets have been mailed out to all of our schools. We encourage you to take a look through all of the information in the packet to familiarize yourself with LeadaChild and the work that they do to provide Lutheran education to students in six different countries/continents around the world! We are also excited about the Teachers Helping Teachers and Run 4 a Child opportunities with this project this year! Take a look and plan now for how your students and teachers will participate and support LeadaChild. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Kim Violette at [email protected].
The photo above is of LeadaChild women in Guatemala making coin purses to collect chapel offerings. You can see the joy they have in doing this ministry!
A COVID Resource
This Student Symptom Decision Tree was shared with us from a PSD principal in Orange County, CA. You may find this resource, provided by OC Health, useful for helping families interpret symptoms and know when to seek medical care and how long to stay home.

PSD School Service Day

This year’s annual PSD School Service Day is Wednesday, November 18. Did you know we have had an annual school service day since November of 2013? This year is no different! While the projects you choose this year may take on a new look, we encourage you to find a way to encourage your staff and students to reach out into your communities with the love of Jesus! Start planning now, and as always, we'd love to share your photos from this special day.
LCEF Webinar Educator Series
Education has gone through many changes during 2020 and with that, educators have had to adapt to teach and care for their students whether it was through Zoom or in person.

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) continues to support the work of our elementary, middle, high and secondary school educators by offering two webinars regarding important issues: technology and mental health. These presentations are intended for teachers and administrators as a resource during this uncertain time.
These webinars are free of charge and all you have to do is register. The webinars will be 45 minutes long and will allow for 15 minutes of questions. These webinars will also be recorded if you are unable to attend.
There is limited space, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Prayer Requests
  • Continued prayers for Duane Rohmaller and family. Duane served for over 45 years as a Lutheran educator, 25+ as a principal, retiring from Christ, Costa Mesa, CA, in 1999. He then served part-time in the PSD as the Director of Lay Leadership Training from 2000 - 2014. Duane is receiving hospice care at a memory facility very near his home. We pray for peace and comfort for Duane, his wife, Betty (Emeritus Kindergarten teacher at Christ, Costa Mesa, CA), and their family, including daughter Lisa Ellwein (teacher at Salem, Orange, CA).

Our Gracious Heavenly Father,
We cry out to you for mercy during these challenging days. Lord, please heal our land, bring peace to our neighborhoods and cities, and tear down the walls of hate and injustice that divide us. Raise up your church to be a life-giving force and ambassadors of reconciliation. Empower us for action that we may model for our world the oneness in Christ, who alone is the hope of the world. Give wisdom to our civil authorities and faith leaders to make decisions and lead in directions that will result in repentance, healing, forgiveness, new directions, and peace. Father in heaven, we pray for our police officers and fire fighters. We ask for your protection, provision and encouragement for our first responders who serve our communities faithfully and sacrificially, facing risks every day on our behalf in order to preserve the peace, our lives and property. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
