March 2020
WEEKLY RUNS and RUN FOR RECOVERY 5K & Tribute
Due to ongoing public health concerns related to COVID-19, the Boston Bulldogs Running Club has suspended all Weekly Group Runs and other scheduled in-person activities until further notice.

In addition, we are converting the 2020 Run for Recovery 5K & Tribute on May 17 into a “virtual" event. We are currently pulling together the details and will be sharing this information soon. We fully expect to continue in the important annual tradition of bringing our community together to honor those we have lost, and to move forward in support of wellness in recovery.

Marathon Team Update: See you in September
Given the recent decision to postpone the Boston Marathon to September 14, we want to update you on behalf of the amazing Bulldogs team who’ve been preparing for this day for months. All 12 of our Bulldogs are still ON for September 14 and will continue their training and their fundraising, with some pause temporarily due to COVID-19. Special thanks to Bulldogs Ambassador Jack Fultz for his ongoing coaching and support. We are so grateful!

Funds raised by the team are a significant part of our annual revenue and support the Boston Bulldogs programs throughout the year. Please take a few minutes to read their remarkable stories and consider supporting them and the Club.
"We're Here"
Coach's Corner

During these difficult and challenging times we need to rely on effective coping skills and consider developing and incorporating new temporary practices that will provide us with a refuge through these next weeks or months.

Developing coping skills entails practicing our first Bulldogs principle of “self-leadership.” This principle is so important, and it is vital at this time to realize we have the control to “just show up” to engage in our wellness.

Here are a few of my suggestions. Think about coming up with your own:
  • Establish a consistent structure in your daily life including appropriate and enjoyable distractions. Structure will give you a sense of control, accomplishment, and balance in your daily life.
  • Have 3 goals each day that you will work on.
  • Reflect on what you have and what you are grateful for throughout the day.
  • Stay connected – “We’re Here”
Full Circle Program: Successes Continue!
The Full Circle Program continues to grow as more and more kind-hearted warriors reach their goals and work on their overall wellness. Already this year, 18 amazing Bulldogs have participated in this program.

A special shout out to Bulldog Joe S., who recently competed Full Circle 1 after continuing to hit wall after wall of injury, illness and storm. We applaud his commitment, his hard work and his practice of our 3 Principles: Self-Leadership, Transparency and Giving Back.

While COVID-19 has meant pausing our group runs, we are all still committed to the wellness and work that the Full Circle program requires.

Giving Back: The Second Step
It was an honor to join forces with Newton Mayor Ruthann Fuller, Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker (Board Chair of the Boston Bulldogs) and the amazing staff of The Second Step (TSS) at a “White Ribbon Event” in early March to help end gender-based violence in our communities. The Boston Bulldogs are launching a partnership with TSS to support youth who’ve been exposed to domestic violence or other trauma.

We are honored to share with this incredible group of kids and young adults our passion for wellness and healthy habits as vehicles for healing.

Thank you Amy Doyle, Bulldogs Giving Back Coordinator, for leading this collaborative effort.
Hyannis Half Marathon & 10K: Bulldogs Show Up!

The Bulldogs enjoyed an AMAZING and unseasonably warm day on February 23 at the Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K . A total of 21 Bulldogs completed at various distances of the race on Cape Cod, including Coach running the 10K!

Congrats to all runners for showing for yourself and each other.

This is what we do - together!
