Butterfield Linear Park Extension Project
The Butterfield Linear Park Extension Project will extend the existing trail on Butterfield Boulevard between East Main Avenue and San Pedro Avenue. The extension will connect the existing Class I trail along Butterfield Boulevard from San Pedro Avenue south to Railroad Avenue. The contractor, Terramark General Engineering Contractors, Inc. has begun work on the southern end of the project area and will be progressing northbound to San Pedro Avenue. We anticipate traffic impacts including lane closures on Butterfield Boulevard during Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the project which is detailed below.

This project is scheduled to be completed by September of 2021. Below is a tentative schedule of work occurring during the project, weather permitting.

Phase 1: Railroad Avenue to Tennant Avenue (January 19, 2021-March 3, 2021)
Work in this area will include grading, preparing the maintenance road, concrete work, asphalt concrete paving, tree planting, and irrigation.

Phase 2: Tennant Avenue to Barret Avenue (March 4, 2021-July 2021)
Work in this area will include demolition of the existing curb and gutter, asphalt concrete paving, relocation of the curb and gutter, relocation of the light pole and traffic light poles, irrigation, backfill, grading and paving of the trail, installing trees, and clean up. This work will require the right lane of northbound Butterfield Boulevard to be closed to traffic during much of this work.

Phase 3: Barrett Avenue to San Pedro Avenue (March 18, 2021- August 2021)
Work in this area will include demolition of the existing curb and gutter, asphalt concrete paving, relocation of the curb and gutter, relocation of light poles and traffic light poles, irrigation, backfill, grading and paving of the trail, installing trees, and clean up. This work will require the right lane of northbound Butterfield Boulevard to be closed to traffic during much of this work.

We understand that these traffic patterns, detours, and changes can be frustrating. Our hope is to complete the work as quickly as possible and limit the impact to the community. Please remember to drive cautiously through construction areas and follow signage for detours. We recommend utilizing alternate routes as much as possible while the work is being completed.
