Throwback Thursday - Let's Learn Some Local History Together
Old Monterey has no shortage of beautifully preserved adobe houses and historic gardens. One of our favorites is the nearly 180 year-old Casa Soberanes, also called House of the Blue Gate. Enter the blue gated entrance to a garden lined with abalone shells, wine bottles and whale bones. Generations of families have called this home, including the Soberanes family, which looks out towards the Monterey Bay. Many homes were built of adobe brick at that time, and this home’s walls are 38” thick! Take a virtual tour of this California State Parks-managed landmark at casasoberanes.com this #ThrowbackThursday and on Monterey’s 250th birthday year.
