Interested in Serving on staff?

If you have an interest in serving on staff for the Normandy Camporee - April 8-10, 2022, we need you to express your interests at the following link.    https://247scouting.com/forms/802-staffnormandy2022

It is importnat that everyone who has an interest or has been recruited to a staff position complete the survey, as it is our official source for our staff roster.

Meet our Chairman
Dick Meijaard:  will serve as the Normandy Camporee Executive Committee Chair.  Dick became a Scouting dad when his son joined Webelos at the International School of Amsterdam in 2005.  Although his son aged out of the youth programs of Scouting nearly 8 years ago, Dick continues as a Scouting volunteer.  His experience includes serving as a Pack Committee Member, Webelos Den Leader, BSA Trainer, and District Commissioner.  Dick also served on the staff of Wood Badge, the council's summer camps, and the 2019 World Jamboree.  Needless to say, Dick has also served in key roles of numerous Normandy Camporees.

Dick's love of the outdoors, Scouting, and the BSA in particular keeps him involved with Pack 8 and Pack 910.

Professionally, Dick runs a security company focused in the aviation industry.

We look forward to the strong leadership Dick will bring to the role of our Normandy Camporee Executive Committee Chair.

Meet the Staff

Robert ("Bob") Elliott: will serve as the chair of the Trading Post committee.   Bob is a recently retired corporate attorney, now enjoying that phase in his life.   Bob is a proud Army Brat, born in Landstuhl while his parents were stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Bob is an Eagle Scout of TAC Troop 112 in Paris, France. As a member of the Black Eagle Lodge, Order of the Arrow he sealed his membership in the Brotherhood, later in life to be bestowed the Vigil Honor.

2022 will be Bob's third opportunity to serve on the staff of a Normandy Camporee. He is a distinguished Scouter, currently residing in Minnesota where he serves on numerous committees of the Northern Star Council. Bob also serves on the Scouts BSA subcommittee of the National Council.

Bob has developed a staff organization for the Trading Post operation and is in the process of recruiting 20 plus members to the team to ensure smooth operations of the Trading Post during the event, but also offer pre-event merchandise sales.

Camporee Program Plan

Historically, the camporee program has included 2 ceremonies at War Memorial Cemeteries (British and American), a campfire on Omaha Beach, the Messengers of Peace Dinner, and other events with targeted audiences. (Eagle Scout Receptions, etc.)

In addition to these organized events, camporee participants have been encouraged to visit any of the many museums dedicated to WWII and nearby towns and historical sites such as Pointe du Hoc, the Bayeux Tapestry and cathedral, etc.

In the months ahead, the Camporee Committee will develop the formal program for the weekend.  Some of these key events will have specific organizing committees to ensure their success.

If you would like to help with any of these events, please be sure to register your interest at   https://247scouting.com/forms/802-staffnormandy2022
