The "Live: From" series is a mash-up of sideline discussions that will give the listener that live feel and a chance to hear our instant reactions to recent plays from that night of rec games. We document some of the raw emotions that the crews are experiencing during, after, & before each game.โฃ

In this episode, we talk about the dreaded pump fake foul, floppers, and the most popular directional point. We also share some interactions and mention a few different tips on how to stay proactive when players begin to taunt each other. โฃ

Recently, he began to wonder if the officiating industry had any film review services available for referees to send their game tape in and get high-quality instructional feedback in return. About a day later he stumbled upon the Crown Refs content and quickly realized that we provide the exact service that he was seeking.โฃ

In this episode of Game Notes, we talk about providing rule-based explanations rather than over-explaining our calls, giving our partners a good pass vs. slapping the ball away, and not allowing coaches to influence, alter, or manipulate our decision-making process.โฃ

How many times have you tried over-explaining a call to a coach and wound up getting yourself into more trouble? Keep your responses short, compact, and backed up by the book. โฃ
โฃ
The next time a coach calls you over for an explanation, try this: instead of telling a story about the play, simply reply with 1-2 sentences of rule-based content and then ask them โ€œWhat did you see coach?โ€โฃ

โฃQuestion of the day: Do you sometimes allow coaches to affect your decision making?

Blocking out external noise becomes very difficult especially when those voices become loud, persistent, and emotionally invested in the outcome of the game. โฃ
โฃ
99.9% of officials have experienced this feeling at some point in their career and many officials still struggle with their judgment being influenced by a coachโ€™s voice. The coaches try to manipulate our thoughts to convince us to see the plays through their fuzzy lens. โฃ
โฃ
The quicker we can eliminate every voice in our head except our own the sooner we can discard the bad information theyโ€™re sending our way. Donโ€™t click on the spam of the game๐Ÿ–ฑโฃ
How many times have we seen an official call a foul in the lead position and then report their foul to the table without handing their partner the ball? This forces our partner to find the ball, bend down and pick it up, and then return to administer the free throw. This is not the most cohesive way we could handle this situation as a crew.

We understand the concentration and focus it takes to properly report the foul, but we also have to show an ability to multi-task and always make our crew look strong. When we pass the ball to each other instead of slapping it away, it looks cleaner and more professional and helps us show more cohesiveness as a unit.

The Crown Refs IPR service gives you the ability to have your game footage broken down to the most minute detail. Hear Corbin Clark's thoughts on our service after receiving his IPR.

โ€œThe Crown Refs content is exceptional in itself, but as a young official who wanted even more out of Crown Refs, I decided the IPR was an extremely valuable resource! It was a very detailed report regarding game film Iโ€™d sent in, almost like a one on one officiating camp. To all my fellow official, I 100% recommend using this service. After reviewing my report, I found myself implementing the feedback into my game immediately! If you want to get better as an official, Crown Refs IPR is for you. #servethegameโ€
