A Message from the Director

It is going to be a great week! I believe that to be true because I have good news!
The Fulton County Library System is proud to announce that it is the only public library system in the nation to offer Paper, an online tutoring platform for grades K-12. We are able to bring this to you due to the enhancement of and addition to our digital resources, previously approved by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners through CARES Act funding.
It offers best in class, online, simplified, real-time learning with qualified tutors. The tutors will help students close learning gaps, leading to greater educational equity.
The Socratic method of teaching is used. Students can also receive essay reviews and other real-time feedback.
All of this is now under way! The only thing needed is your FulcoLibrary card number to gain online access and get started!
We are looking out for you and your kids, by assisting with educational support. It’s all free, with your library card and comes with 24/7 access!
Perhaps you can now find time to check out and read a great American novel while your kids get professional homework help with Paper.co. Two things are now solved!
One more quick note, we invite you to have preview our new website. It is almost ready to launch and we would love for you to provide your feedback.
Enjoy!

NEW Resource: PAPER - Free Online Tutoring
|
|
We are pleased to announce the launch of Paper, a free online tutoring service for Fulton County residents and library card holders. Through Paper’s remote learning platform, students are provided unlimited 24/7 access to online tutoring in any subject from a fully vetted Paper educator, and essay review with annotated feedback within 24 hours. Through Socratic instruction methods, students are guided through concepts to find the answers on their own.
In addition to providing free academic support to Fulton County library card holders, Paper.co will also be available for CLASS PASS participants from Atlanta Public Schools, who currently use student identification credentials to access many of the library’s resources.
With many districts continuing to teach children with remote learning, the need for flexible and personalized online support for students has only increased. In partnering with Paper, the Fulton County Library System is helping close the divide between those who can afford private tutoring and those who cannot. Get started today!

The Results Are In! Patrons Love the New Catalog!
|
|
Over the last few editions of @FulcoLibrary News, we've been asking you to check out the new catalog and tell us what you think!
ICYMI: the new catalog will replace our current Sirsi catalog and will allow patrons to register with the new site, manage holds, create and share book lists with much more ease, as well as keep track of what they have read, downloaded or listened to with their library card.
Here are some of the wonderful comments you have shared with us:
The new site is WONDERFUL! I often searched for books and put things on hold using the old system, and this one is such an improvement. I think I will be logging in much more, checking out the new books on order and other information just because the site is a nice place to "hang out."
There are some great features like the save list that will allow me to place titles that I want to put on hold at some time in the future so I can keep track. So far, I really like the new interface.
I love the new catalog!! The way you can put books on hold or in a "For Later" shelf is really great.
