April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we are proud to highlight both here in our newsletter and our social platforms the people that love serving. Our core values drive our vision and our mission and one of our core values is powerful to celebrate this month, which is to inspire the love of serving others.
Givful Makes Workplace Volunteering and Giving Easy

Many companies understand that their employees not only want to work and pay their bills, but they also want to do good for their communities. Today’s workforce wants to find a sense of purpose at work and one way to do that is by increasing options to give back to the local community.

Givful offers a single resource ‘command center’ that securely digitizes all workplace volunteering and giving processes, delivering profit with purpose in a user experience similar to Facebook.

Givful recently announced a campaign where we are inviting all companies to use our volunteering and giving platform free of charge for the rest of 2020. Givful has ways of supporting the organizations employees are passionate about, which is why we at CARES, are proud to partner with them.

Amy Zack,
Volunteer Highlight

"As a cancer survivor, I feel a strong connection to the mission of CARES. We all have a shared experience that makes us part of a club we never asked to belong to, but one that has profoundly changed our lives. With the CARES team, I feel appreciated and fortunate to be given the opportunity to make a difference, no matter how small, in the lives of my fellow survivors and those still coping with cancer."

Amy takes on many additional responsibilities to support CARES. She is both determined and passionate in her quest and we are fortunate she champions CARES.
Geri Rice,
Volunteer Highlight

"I feel honored to be a Volunteer for CARES! I love being a part of the Event Committee supporting the fundraising events and working with the incredible office staff, including Karri, Nancy, and, of course, Scott! CARES is an organization providing much needed funding for effective cancer treatments, and as a cancer survivor, I wholeheartedly support its mission."

Geri is a tremendous asset and a wonderful friend to CARES. We are fortunate to have her as a Volunteer and celebrate her Survivorship.

Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™
Charlie White, Board Ambassador

2014 Ice Dance Olympic Champion and 2020 U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame inductee Charlie White has committed his time to the CARES Foundation as one of our honored Board Ambassadors. Charlie and his partner Meryl Davis have gracefully moved into the hearts of Americans as their skating careers have blossomed from competitors to athlete advocates and philanthropists. Charlie’s work with CARES has been long standing, and his support of the cancer community through CARES has made an impressive impact in cancer research.

“Growing up as a figure skater I was really fortunate to have a role model like Scott Hamilton to help show the power of perseverance and commitment. As an adult, Olympic Champion, parent, and nephew to an amazing aunt who was taken too soon by cancer, I’ve been fortunate to witness the impact Scott and his Scott CARES team have had on changing the way we think about cancer and cancer treatment. And I'm grateful now to be a Board Ambassador for CARES, because it brings hope and light to people who need it.”

Our Board Ambassadors support our mission and bring more awareness to Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™. Make sure to follow us across our social media platforms at @TeamscottCARES to join at our events.
