The Nampa Police Department, along with the Nampa Fire Department, have worked diligently to educate and provide support for the citizens and business owners of Nampa during this pandemic. Since the Governor’s order to self-isolate came out March 25, the Nampa Police have been in contact with local businesses to educate them on safety measures and to ensure the public’s well-being. The Nampa Police have conducted over 3,800 contacts, with 860 of those receiving educational information for health and safety compliance and have also logged over 3,000 hours on projects related to the pandemic. The Nampa Police Department has not issued any citations for violations, and we have greatly appreciated the public’s support and understanding of the guidelines put in place for the community’s health and safety.
We encourage all businesses to follow the Governor’s four-phase plan for reopening, found at
rebound.idaho.gov
. The Idaho Rebounds website provides specific phases and estimated timelines for when businesses may open and includes best practices on how to accomplish this safely under the direction of our State’s Health Departments. We want to remind the citizens and business owners of Nampa that our goal as a city is to protect the safety and wellbeing of our community. The Nampa Police Department is committed to ensuring we provide the very best education and guidance on how to keep both employees and patrons safe during this time.
The Nampa Police Department will not be issuing criminal citations to businesses that open outside of the Governor’s order, unless absolutely necessary for businesses or citizens who are blatantly and unapologetically violating the health district directives. Please note, any business who is issued a license through the State of Idaho, and is considering opening ahead of the Governor’s mandate, may be subject to administrative penalties which could be leveled against their business or license revocation from the State of Idaho.
The City of Nampa has worked tirelessly to support our local business partners while also prioritizing the health and safety of the community. Chief Huff said, “The Nampa Police Department remains committed to prioritizing education during this time and asks businesses to follow the health districts recommendations for re-opening. We want to make sure when businesses reopen, residents will have full confidence to provide their support knowing every effort is being made to ensure a customer’s health and safety.”
Mayor Kling said, “The work of the Nampa Police Department is greatly appreciated as we work to educate our businesses, keep our community healthy and create consumer confidence. We are working together towards a full recovery and watching Nampa’s economy rebound.”
