AADC 2021 L'Hommedieu Lecture To Feature
An Evening with Dr. Bernice A. King
|
|
The AADC will welcome Dr. Bernice A. King, who will deliver our first-ever virtual L'Hommedieu Lecture on Thursday, October 28, at 7:00 pm EST. Our moderator for the evening will be Dr. Linda Caldwell Epps '73, Vice President for Development on the AADC Board of Directors. The lecture is free and open to our alumnae community, friends, the greater Rutgers community and the public.
Dr. Bernice A. King is a global thought leader, strategist, orator, peace advocate, and CEO of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center), which was founded by her mother, the late Coretta Scott King. In this position, Dr. King continues to advance her parents’ legacy of Kingian Nonviolence, which she re-branded Nonviolence365™️.
She will examine the role of women and youth and our responsibility to collectively make the world a better place. She will discuss allyship as a key to unlocking the power of diversity and social responsibility. Dr. King, an ordained minister, attorney and author, will share from her work, including her book, "Hard Questions: Heart Answers: Sermons and Speeches."
Our moderator, Dr. Linda Caldwell Epps '73, has been dedicated to public service and to leading the charge of diversity and equity throughout a more than 40-year career. She is President and CEO of 1804 Consultants, which she founded to advance educational and cultural organizations. In May, Dr. Epps was awarded a Doctor of Humanities honorary degree from Princeton University.
The L’Hommedieu Visiting Lecturer Series is presented by the AADC and made possible through the generosity of the late Frances Bradley L’Hommedieu ’26. The series was created in 1982 to bring a distinguished individual to campus through a trust created by Paige D. and Frances B. L’Hommedieu ‘26.

Put the AADC Mission in Motion While You Shop
|
|
It sounds like a rhetorical question, but do you shop online at Amazon? With more online shopping than ever during the pandemic, many people have upped their online shopping game. But did you know that every time you buy something, a small donation from that purchase can be sent to the AADC? AmazonSmile is a simple way to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you.
Start – or continue – shopping on Amazon and let the dollars mount up for the AADC! Please note that AmazonSmile donations to the AADC do not benefit NJC, DRC, Douglass or Rutgers. They benefit the AADC and help keep our mission in motion. Thank you.
