LIMITED VIN INSPECTIONS
Due to the Governor’s Executive Order # 20-07 effective Monday, March 23, which directs all state employees of executive branch agencies under jurisdiction of the governor to stay home on administrative leave for 2 weeks, out-of-state vehicle VIN inspections will only be available on a limited basis.

Since, the majority of the VIN inspectors are civilians, who are covered by the administrative leave order, all VIN Inspection Stations located across the state will be closed effective Monday. Due to the fact there are only 10 uniformed Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers, who perform inspections, and cover multiple counties, inspections will be limited to a minimum of 10 per visit.

All requests for inspections should be submitted to Lt. McCollum at [email protected] . Lt. McCollum will do his best to accommodate your needs. We ask that you be patient during this challenging time as the KHP is dealing with limited resources.

Licensed New Motor Vehicle Dealers are reminded that they can have an employee become certified by the KHP to perform certain motor vehicle inspections by completing the Inspection Program Interest Form . If you have interest in the program, you can also contact Lieutenant Josh MacEwan at [email protected] .

KADA will provide updates on critical legislative and regulatory measures as they become available.
