Library news & updates

A Message from Library Director Linda Pilla
Hi everyone!
Everywhere I look, I see a wealth of information. From TV to radio to online resources, we are surrounded by suggestions on how to handle this new normal. The CDC, the World Health Organization and the American Psychiatric Association are all great sources of reliable information, so consult these sites for the latest news and updates. In the meantime, here are some easy, quick things you can do right now.

  1. Take a breath. Seriously. One nice long easy inhale. One nice long easy exhale.
  2. Call someone. I have a daughter who lives in Northern Ireland. Two weeks ago we were talking about Brexit – yes, it happened! Now, we’re talking about other things, but we are talking regularly. Or call me at the library. If I’m not here, leave a message – I’ll get back to you.
  3. Learn something new. I have never in my life seen so many suggestions for opportunities to learn or update skills! Try something completely new.
  4. Read a book. Read a good book full of deep thought and worthy aspirations. Or pick a romance, or a thriller or a murder mystery. Get carried away for a little while. While you’re stuck at home and working to conserve resources, there is no better place to find free options — many of which are available digitally — than your public library.
  5. As much as possible, keep your usual routine. One of the best ways to maintain calm during times of crisis is to stick to your normal routines. Maintaining an atmosphere of “business as usual” (continued at right)
(continued)
during a crisis is good for children but also beneficial for adults. As much as you are able, maintain your regular routines, including exercising, getting enough sleep and doing chores around the house.

Stay healthy and stay safe!
~ Linda
New Curbside Pickup Hours
Curbside Pickup Hours
11am - 3pm
Monday through Friday
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020 , the library will be open for curbside pickup from 11am to 3pm. Just put a hold on an item or call us for suggestions, and library staff will check out your materials to your account and will leave them on the stone benches just outside the library’s front entrance.

How will these items be selected?
1. Visit our  catalog  and place holds for the items you would like to check out, or
2. Call us at 603-886-6030 to select a “Curated Collection.” Share your favorite genres and we will select books that
could interest and/or surprise you!

A few things to keep in mind:
  • There is a limit of 5 items per patron. Families may pick up one collection per library card holder.
  • All fines are waived until further notice. Past overdue fines will be forgiven. Lost or damaged book fines will be suspended until life returns to normal.
  • Bookdrops will no longer be continued. Please keep your books until the library is fully open.
  • Unfortunately, patrons will not be allowed into the library building until further notice. We will no longer bring items to your car – you must pick them up yourself from one of the stone benches.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please call the library at 603-886-6030 with any questions, or email us at  askus@rodgerslibrary.org .
