152b Mandate Reimbursement Applications are LIVE
In 2016 the Michigan legislature passed, with bipartisan support, an appropriation to reimburse nonpublic schools for complying with state mandates that help ensure the health, safety, and general welfare of school children. The funding has been held up for the past six years in litigation until a recent Court of Claims ruling that allowed nonpublic schools to seek reimbursement for 15 health and safety mandates.

The 2021-22 application is now available and you can access it by logging into your MEGS+ account. Applications are due by August 31st.

MANS created a 152b worksheet to help schools determine the correct reimbursement amount to request, which can be found here. This document is for planning purposes only and may not accurately reflect final Michigan Department of Education regulations. Do not submit this with your application - retain for your own records.

Michigan Parents Council - Applications Due August 8th
Last week, Governor Whitmer announced the creation of the Michigan Parents’ Council. The council will include seven parents or family members of children in PK-12 who will host a series of regional parent roundtables to gather input and perspective on the start of 2022-23 school year and streamline how parent recommendations are included in education budget proposals. The inclusion of a nonpublic school voice on the council is critical.

We ask that you to share this opportunity with your parents and encourage them to apply. The application can be found here and when prompted, parents will choose “Michigan Parents' Council”. The application deadline is August 8th at 5:00 p.m.

Targeted Technology: Maximizing technology’s potential to transform learning
Technology can be powerful and transformative in the classroom, but it can be
difficult to decide what tools to use and how to use them. Having a clear protocol for analyzing technology we might use can be very helpful. Through the use of technology frameworks, standards, and consideration criteria for assessing technology adoption, teachers will have a more well-rounded idea of not only what technology is appropriate, but also when and why certain technologies are preferred over others.
Learning Objectives:
  • Develop a basic understanding of technology frameworks and how they can be utilized as a reflective tool for your current instructional practices
  • Examine the four core-tenants of a student-centered learning approach and the technology tools that can be used to support each of them.
  • Explore and interact with considerations for selecting and integrating digital content and tools in the classroom
