Greetings from the Museum of Art. One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic has been exploring the potential of virtual programs. Though no substitute for in-person presentations and performances in the galleries, we have all learned how Zoom can connect us with people near and far. As we move into the second half of the spring semester, we are excited about various public programs that will bring to campus critically acclaimed artists and scholars from around the world. Of special note, mark your calendar on Thursday, April 8, when Dr. Abdulameer Al-Hamdani, archaeologist and former Iraq Minister of Culture, will present the annual Yadgar Family Lecture, in conjunction with the current exhibition, Assyria to America: An Empire and Its Legacy. Two weeks later, on Thursday, April 22, the Cameroonian artist Herve Youmbi, whose work is featured in The Presence of the Past: Art from Central and West Africa, will present on his artistic practice. We are excited about these upcoming virtual visits. Stay well.
