Fitness Class & Membership News

As we reach a point where programs and activities are able to resume, we are excited to welcome you back with some fitness offerings. A number of fitness classes have been moved outdoors and one-on-one training in the Prairie Lakes Fitness Center is now acceptable. Entering Phase III of Restore Illinois, guidelines for safety have been put in place.

Registration is NOW open to provide fitness experiences with a 10 participant limit at the outdoor location of West Park, 651 South Wolf Road. Classes will meet under one of two pavilions and use the structure and field with classes slightly altered for your fitness and exercise needs. A list of classes provided can be found on our website. Preregistration online is the only option available to participate in these classes at this time. Cancellations for these classes will be communicated through our Rainout Line or via email through the group fitness database.

Participants will want to bring:
* A mask (if you are unable to social distance)
* Hand Sanitizer
* Sweat towel
* Class specific Equipment (yoga mat, weights, etc)
* Water bottle

One-on-one personal training will also be available starting June 8 between 6:30am-5:30pm at the Prairie Lakes Community Center Fitness Center. If you are a current client of our personal training program, you will be contacted by your Trainer to schedule your appointments. Current members that would like to purchase personal training sessions can contact Tyler Fuchs, at [email protected] or 847-391-5711 for more information.

Since the closure our members have not been billed the monthly installments and members who have prepaid for the year will see their memberships extended as a means to not charge for services not rendered.

During Phase IV, Fitness Centers are expected to re-open. With Park Board approval in late 2019, increases to membership fees, which were scheduled to begin on May 1 will now be implemented upon return to activity. Many of you have seen the rates for monthly and annual membership fee increases as they were printed in our Summer Spectrum. EFT memberships will again not be billed on June 15, however, once facilities re-open and activities resume the EFT will begin again. Annual memberships will also resume and we will communicate how those memberships will be extended to make up for the time lost during this shut down.

We are excited to provide NEW memberships which include the Indoor Pool, which is still on schedule to open mid July. Feel free to review the pricing & membership type changes on our website, or in this PDF. More information on how to transfer to these passes will be available in the near future. Further information on our re-opening plan will be provided when guidance becomes available.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as well as allowing us to provide these great opportunities at the Des Plaines Park District.

Sincerely,

Joe Weber
