A Tribute to Salman Afzaal & Family

On June 16th Council, Mayor Brian Ropp read a Tribute to Salman Afzaal and his family. We wanted to share this statement from CEO Ernie Harris on behalf of the Board of Directors, management, staff, and residents of Craigwiel Gardens on the passing of Salman Afzaal and his family.

Salman was a former physiotherapist at Craigwiel Gardens. Although his assignment with them ended in 2019, he continued to provide the same loving care to his clients in other settings. Our community grieves at the loss of Salman Afzaal and his family.
Reopening Ontario- Step 2

On June 30, 2021, Ontario will move to Step 2 in the Roadmap to reopen. This second step is an initial focus on Opening indoors with small numbers and face coverings and expand outdoors

Please continue to follow the requirements in Step 1 of the Roadmap to Reopen until June 30 as well as continue to follow public health guidance like physical distancing, masking, and hand hygiene.

New Splashpad- Coronation Park
We are pleased to announce the newly-designed Coronation Park splash pad construction starting Monday, July 5th, 2021. A portion of this reconstruction is thanks to the Community Vibrancy Fund.

The Splash Pad will remain closed throughout the construction and is expected to be completed by the Civic Holiday Weekend in August (weather permitting).
Congratulations Taya Currie

Hockey history was made on Saturday, June 5th. Taya Currie, 16, from Parkhill became the first woman selected in the Ontario Hockey League Draft when she was selected by the Sarnia Sting. Currie went as pick No. 267 in the draft, and didn't play this past season as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The goaltender recently wrapped up her minor league hockey career with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs.

"It's just awesome," Currie told OHL TV after being drafted. "I can be a role model for so many young girls to follow their dreams."

The CSWB plan, which is required under the Province’s Safer Ontario Act, 2018, identifies priority risks in Middlesex and outline strategies and actions to improve the safety and well-being of our community.

New Website- Coming Soon
The Municipality of North Middlesex is excited to announce the coming launch of the revamped municipal website: www.northmiddlesex.on.ca early this July. Residents, Businesses, and Visitors will soon be able to readily explore North Middlesex's vibrant community, recreation programming, municipal services, and infrastructure and development updates online.

The new and improved municipal website is mobile-friendly, AODA accessibility compliant, and offers an enhanced user experience. The website features an intuitive search function, an informational newsfeed and events calendar, as well as readily available Council meetings, agendas, and minutes.

CAO Jonathon Graham adds, “Our new municipal website is one of the many great steps we are taking to enhance customer service and government transparency in North Middlesex. This website will be a reliable resource for news, promotion, and information coming from the municipality.”

If you haven't already noticed, we have a new business in North Middlesex- Imagination Created! We are delighted to welcome them to their new location on Ailsa Craig Main Street, formally the Grammies Pizza Building. They have been busy the past few months renovating the space and preparing to open it for the public. Once open for business, you can expect a beautiful showroom boutique with over 20 local vendors, workshop space and woodworking studio to create all their fantastic custom creations.

Imagination Created specializes in custom creations and wooden games. They are here to here to help you find something great and help bring your vision of something custom to reality for you to enjoy for years to come! If you're looking for a fun family activity, check out their popular outdoor game- Yardzee©. Another popular attraction available soon to the community is their woodworking workshops which they hope to release dates in the future for this Summer 2021 (pending COVID protocols).
