Like many of you, May has been keeping OregonASK extremely busy preparing for what Summer and the upcoming Fall will look like for programs and thousands of Oregon Youth who depend on them. This past month OregonASK has been putting together trainings to respond to the quick changes that are happening within Oregon. The training team delivered weekly online trainings ranging from the launch of the new Mizzen by Mott App, COVID-19 & Child Care Pt. 2, STEM, and behavior management.

National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) Founder Matthew Boulay and CEO Aaron Dworkin joined the OregonASK Making the Most of Summer webinar on May 28th, highlighting work & research being done across the country in response to the current landscape. As we heard from national partners, we are joining partners across the country working to elevate the importance of summer learning opportunities for all. OregonASK has been working collaboratively with NSLA for nearly a decade to address the need for increased, coordinated summer learning, and will continue to work together to inform policy makers and support programs with resources through this new challenge. 

On May 27th, NSLA hosted a  Press Conference sharing dozens of voices from around the country, amplifying the fact that while summer programs have been providing essential support for millions of youth and families for decades, now is a more critical time than ever before.  NSLA

We want to hear from you to help ensure child care providers and school-age programs can be adequately prepared as '2 weeks ready' in case of a natural or man-made emergency. We are looking forward to hearing from many communities across the state about emergency preparedness resources and challenges that can help us all learn more about becoming 2 Weeks Ready. In this session participants will examine the learning process of beginning readers and develop strategies to support them in their programs. Growth Mindset: Supporting School Age Learners to Become Enthusiastic, Hard-working, and Persistent

June 30th, 2020 from 6:30-8:30pm

Participants will explore the concept of Growth Mindset, examine their own mindset as it applies to learning new things, and practice communication strategies that build confidence in problem solving and encourage students to persist through challenges. 2 hours of Set 2 HGD credit available.   Register Now for only $20 .

• 150 Activities and Challenges throughout the summer, organized by four different age groups
• Week 1: Who I am 5-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18 
• All activities are adaptable for in-person and virtual instruction, or a hybrid with take-home packets.
• Based in skill-building & social-emotional learning
