We're honored to announce that we've been
selected
as LA LOOP's first-ever
LOOPin Grantee
. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we've been met with the
challenge
to
totally redesign
our service model and identify new, virtual ways to bring our clients to safety.
LA LOOP
has helped us
meet that need by reallocating some of the grant to fund virtually needed technology upgrades.
Our clients and the populations we serve are in survival mode, pure and simple. Many are isolated with their abusers and have
limited options
of escape. They are scared. It is critical that they
know
their legal rights and have
access
to help.
Because of the LOOPin Grant, our staff and battalion of amazing volunteers have been able to
continue serving
our existing clients and new clients alike. We are doing everything we can to be as flexible as possible. The web based platforms have been
effective
in providing clients legal representation and helping obtain the safety measures they need.
To help other legal service organizations navigate this transition to a
virtual model
, we will be
co-hosting a webinar
on May 18th to share our experience, the tools that have made this transition possible, and other best practices/lessons we've learned so far.
We're so fortunate to have dedicated volunteers helping women and families, especially now, when they are needed the most. We are touched by our dedicated volunteer,
Cathy Pohl
, who
nominated PWJC
for this inaugural LOOPin Grant. We look forward to using the remaining grant funds to host a mental health resource retreat for our volunteers when it is safe to do so.
Thanks again LOOPin!
