Acts 8:4-13

"A Paradigm For Progressive Ministry"

Rev. Al Walker

A Message From Our Visiting Minister

In every generation, human beings seek courage, meaning, and wholeness for their lives. To the early church the gospel came as a life-transforming message. Through it they found greater courage and meaning and wholeness. Behind all of what we read in Acts of the Apostles are the stories of human beings whose lives were changed. So it was that the early church felt compelled to go out in glad proclamation. Therefore, we now see Philip, having experienced the reality of God’s transforming work in Jesus Christ, going forth addressing himself to other persons in need.

From Anna Marie...

Few of us believe in magic, certainly not that as practiced by “magicians” who are really illusionists. But many do accept that unusual and not readily explainable things do happen. Often those are medical healings which believers attribute to the work of the Holy Spirit. We no longer expect the routing of demons in the 21st century. But why not? The alcoholic who asked God, with much less than full faith, for sobriety and received it without going through rehab or joining AA can suppose that the demon was promptly conquered. The apparently unexplained end to someone’s cancer, not just remission, but its complete disappearance is sometimes thought to have come as a result of prayer. Maybe so, and maybe we should pray a great deal more that all evil be expunged. The early Christians seem to have been given the power to act in faith and get results. Are we neglecting some of the faith part? Might we be praying more diligently about all the things which we perceive to be bad? There are great divisions among people these days. Let us ask, in faith, that the evil within us be removed before we begin attacking others for theirs.

RRCC Chalice Car Decals

Some people are opposed to wearing advertising and won't wear t-shirts with company logos emblazoned across the chest. But some of those same people will wear clothing which shows off their alma mater or they'll wear a football jersey reflecting their favorite team. Some attempt to show their Christianity by wearing crosses.

We have an opportunity to share about our church. Note the high percentage of "scantily clad" vehicles in our parking lot on Sunday morning. I'm speaking of those not sporting RRCC decals.

Should you want to insure that your car is "well-dressed", pick up a decal from the counter in the welcome center and add $2.00 or more to your offering. We could have quite a fleet of RRCC vehicles roaming around, helping us to spread the word that RRCC is a good place to engage in practicing our faith. Come, be a part of it.

Elders Prayer/Closing Message

“Come to Me, and I will ease, relieve, and refresh your soul.” Approach Me confidently, dear one, knowing that I have perfect understanding of you and everything that concerns you. Tell Me your troubles candidly; let the Light of My Face shine on them and illuminate your thinking. Then rest with Me, slowly inhaling the beauty of My presence. You can feel safe and secure in My everlasting arms. As you spend precious time with Me, let Me ease and relieve your soul.

Your soul is the most important part of you because it is eternal. The New Testament Greek word for “soul” is sometimes translated “life.” When you are “heavy-laden and overburdened”, you may feel as if the life is draining out of you. But I offer wonderfully nourishing care for this vital part of you. “I restore your soul—“ helping you to rest and see things from My perspective. As I am refreshing you, relax and feel My Life flowing into you. “Your soul finds rest in Me alone.”

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. {I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.}”   Matt. 11:28 AMP

The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.   Deut. 33:27     EVS

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake     Psalm 23: 2-3

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.   Psalm 62:1
