Transition Team Report
Guided by the Holy Spirit and by Fr. Andrew's wishes, we offer the below report of our activities to date:

Your Transition Team has now met three times, and we are focused on helping our St. Margaret's community and our new Rector begin a caring, solid relationship, grounded in our Episcopal Church tradition and our faith in Jesus.

We will provide regular updates to our parish community and regular reports to the Vestry on our progress and needed input.

We seek to honor Fr. Andrew in this time as he prepares to say goodbye to his current parish, so we are in limited contact with him to ascertain his wishes and keep him informed about all steps we are taking as a Transition Team.

We have initiated a Welcome Book for Fr. Andrew. We've sent an email to all Ministry Leaders requesting their contributions to this book by providing information about their ministries and also answering two specific questions from him.   We have received quite a few ministry descriptions so far, and we look forward to completing this section of the book by June 21, 2020.

We have also begun to collect resource information about the Greater Palm Desert community, both digital and in print.

We will keep you apprised during this time, and we continue to welcome your comments, suggestions, and ideas. We thank those of you who have expressed support and even pleasure at the work we are doing on behalf of the parish to welcome Fr. Andrew to St. Margaret's.

In Christ,
Meredith (mlh8108@gmail.com),
Happy Fathers' Day Weekend!!
In honor of all our Dads this Father's Day, we have adopted another African Wild Dog puppy.   This time, Debby chose one of Maggie's brothers. We don't have a photo of him yet but will send one soon.

The adoption program provides funds for wildlife education, conservation research, animal care and habitat improvements.  So, we are all helping out this pup's mom and being good stewards of God's precious creation. Let's call this pup Milo!!

Christian Formation during Covid19
What's happening with Christian Formation during Covid? Maybe that's not the first (probably not the 19 th ) thing you're wondering about these days! Perhaps you've been inundated with INFORMATION and are hoping for a breather. On the other hand, perhaps you're seeking a Christian perspective on current events.

Here are some resources for you:

  • Mondays at 3:00 PM Zoom call to discuss where we've met God during the week (through daily reflections, sermons, scripture readings). Judy Burton, Chris Davidson & Rick Martin facilitate. Email Mother Deb (deborahs@stmargarets.org) to be put on your calendar.
  • Becoming Beloved Community: The Episcopal Church's wealth of resources athttps://episcopalchurch.org/beloved-community.  Stay tuned for details about the Sacred Ground experience!
  • Brene Brown's podcast "Unlocking Us"https://brenebrown.com/unlockingus/.  Brene, an Episcopalian, social work researcher and author speaks with contemporary leaders about issues of the day. Neighbors-4-Neighbors UPDATE!
Miracles continue to happen every Tuesday at  St. Margaret's through Neighbors 4 Neighbors. We desperately want to keep the doors open and the carts moving, knowing that many of our clients have depended on the jobs hardest hit during the pandemic closures. With so many facing hardship, the number served has generally doubled from what was typical before. And while many regular volunteers must stay away during sheltering, new ones have appeared. God continues to provide and make the seemingly impossible possible. Thank you Chet Hecht and all our volunteers and contributors!

How can you help? Do you know someone healthy enough to safely volunteer? We have strict procedures in place to protect volunteers and clients. Can you make a special contribution to help with this vital Outreach?   Please respond generously by sending an offering with N4N on the memo line. Or use the easyTithe link on the homepage of www.stmargarets.org and note your purpose.

Please note: due to our volunteer and space constraints, we are unable to accept clothing at
this time.
