Calling All Homework Helpers

It’s that time of year! Kids are returning to school providing us with an opportunity to work with teachers and students at Rama Road Elementary School. Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, from 2:30 to 4:00. You can help a first or second grader improve their reading, literacy and math skills — and have fun doing it. If you are wondering if we really make a difference...last year two of our students received End-Of-Year awards from their teachers for the improvements they made. The school attributed their success to our Homework Helpers. If you’d like to learn more or you’d like to volunteer, let Pam Stirling know.

Volunteer in the Nursery

Starting September 11, the nursery will be open for both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services and we need your help to keep it running smoothly! We're so excited that we'll be in a brand new location, the former Resource Room next to the Adult Library, and hope that you'll check it out! Sign up to volunteer here! Contact Sarah Dianne Jones with any questions.

Church Life News & Announcements

So, What's Your Story?

Beginning this month, Sardis members will share brief testimonies during Sunday worship. Each personal impact statement will highlight how participation in the life and work of Sardis moved that person to explore their faith and change their life.

The statements will tie in with one of our Core Discipleship Actions – Praising, Learning, Loving, Serving, Sharing and Witnessing. The stories will address why we come to church, why we support the work of the church, and how our lives are impacted. Please take a moment to think about your journey – was there a mentor who made a difference? Did another’s quiet acts of service inspire you to be a servant? Did a message from the pulpit move you to make a change in your life? Did one volunteer opportunity prompt you to dive into more opportunities?

Do you have a faith story to share? If so, please contact Joe B. Martin (704.366.1854).
