Celebrate Three Special Things at the Farmers Market

It's a trifecta of things to rejoice at tomorrow's Westchase District Farmers Market. You can celebrate the summer solstice on Saturday, June 20, dads for upcoming Father's Day on June 21, and Pollinator Week which starts June 22. Farmers Market vendors offer everything you need for each celebration.

Summer Solstice
For summer solstice, add some new plants to your garden. Ooha Sol Farm has blueberry and Satsuma orange trees and herbs like basil. Dr. Lucy's agaves and herbs are tasty ways to help align your spiritual and physical equilibrium.

Father's Day

Put a smile on the face of any dad, stepfather, uncle, brother, son and grandfather with these gift ideas. Raise a glass to dad and toast him with wine from Houston Winery. Grab The Bark BBQ's brisket to go as a gift to satisfy his craving for tender, delicious smoked meats. When dad fires up his own grill, Unc B's has all the spices for flavoring meats and Chilesquiles has sauces for flavorings. ABJ Farms has jams and jelly for dad's breakfast toast. Finally, you can never go wrong with socks from Swaggr. And, he'll appreciate that they're made from recycled plastic bottles.

National Pollinator Week
Thirteen years ago the U.S. Senate's unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as "National Pollinator Week" marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinator Week has now grown into an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles.  And of course, bees make all things sweet. Pure Texas Honey and PEAS Farm have the honey. Jams and jelly from Shosho's Kitchen and ABJ Farms come from wild fruit made fresher by our buzzing winged pollinating friends.

Farmtastic Coming July 9 & August 6
Please save the date for Thursday, July 9 & August 6 for Farmtastic at the Farmers Market. It's fun for the family with face painting, a balloon twister artist, watermelon games, caricature artist, mini ponies, and pickle making. You and your kids will enjoy this annual happening at the Farmers Market!
